I mean, sure Emily was a douche, but the mines part is actually pretty cool and atmospheric, and you actually edited the game to fit into your complaints about her. The radio part can actually be played rather calmly and collected with Emily. If you played the game you'd also know that Josh is not "celebrating" his sisters' deaths, but rather has an age...

Probably the producers felt that she was lacking or that the game was going into a direction they did not want. Producers have the power to basically fire and hire anyone. That's not to say that she couldn't have left on good terms, sometimes creative differences happen and people are forced to let go of projects and good staff without major animosity.

Tomb Raider will always be remembered as the exclusive that flopped hard while the developer kept on assuring that "the game will do just fine even against Fallout 4". It will also be remembered by 3rd parties when they sign on exclusivity deals.
MGS though, will probably be remembered as the best action game of 2015 and the last MGS by Kojima.

The production time will be smaller, they can have different teams working on different parts and then manage people around to the other parts as they see fit, basically speeding up the whole process.
The games could also cost less than a full retail release, sure it'd cost more in the long run, but if its, say, 15-25 dollars cheaper than usual, most people would buy the parts as they are released over a full priced game r...
