The real industry killer is video game piracy. Although it's "bush-league", selling used games (along with everything else consumers buy) is theirs....and they have the right to do what they choose with them.
Developers & companies charge $60 a game, and half of these games are worthy the price. I haven't seen anything in the news about M$, Sony, or Nintendo, buying and re-selling used copies of their games. Hey...I just sold my 2001 Camry, so I guess I&...
In the computer & software biz.....MS (With Bill Gates) was well ahead of the competition. (Even though Apple & Steve Jobs is still killin)
HOWEVER, we talking games now....and there ain't S--- windows or misleading news bias can do to hold back either PC, Nintendo, or Sony. NO matter the sale numbers, this generation paid out to ALL the gaming platforms. Wii sold the most systems, but profit vs. what they spent is the very close to to both MS and Sony. (Maybe PC...
Killzone 3 is around 1.25 million units sold....and counting. That's not a failed hype thing to me. People can't seem to get a handle on the fact that things like halo, Mario, cod, and wow, are anomalies. Regularly, Mega-games sell around 3-5 million, and for a company /developer to claim success....they want to at least see 1.5 million. (At $60 a pop...do the math cause contrary to what dev's say, EVERY GAME DOES NOT COST MILLIONS TO MAKE!!!)That's a lot of profit made from a...
All the games look great....people still eating this stuff?? F-it, I bought all of em. (Well, not PC cause I don't have one) but I do buy most of the multiplats though. ...and got news for u, there really isn't a big difference as led on by these review people. Just play the damn games, and stop letting people mind bang u out of having fun.
There's no such thing as leaked footage. People never seem to get fired for these so called "leaks." Its good PR and sales hype. Forza. 3 was good....I don't think they need to show much for interest, cause Forza. 3 did pretty well.
It's April 1st. Not saying this is fake....but I haven't heard anything on the news. This would definitely be CNN worthy news.
I know the PC version of most multi plat games is the better of the three (Sometimes 4, with the Wii), but playing wiht 24 online is good enough anyhow. Sure not as many as 64, but most people don't use teamwork anyway online...hence Modern Warfare series and Halo. I'm still getting this game when it drops cause I love the battlefield series.
KILLZONE 3 IS AWESOME.
1 million in sales, in this time frame, is great. Sony games are judged in the long term due to the wide selection of triple-A titles. Killzone 2 started a little faser, but slower than hyped......only to hit for around 2.7 million.
No one expects Killzone to carry Sony, because Sony does not need to put it's hope on one or two franchises. Anyhow, Killzone 4 will come out...most likely as a launch title for the next platform. (In my opinion...
which points to the reason why I (along with others...some fanboys, some not) can clearly see that Killzone 3 is better graphically.
Frame rate, online lag, texture tearing, and lighting physics all play a role in the overall score of graphics. I see some of these review sites are just looking at pieces of graphic power, and not EVERYTHING. Crysis 2 is sweet looking, and I will get it at some point. However, Guerrilla Games has managed to pull of a incredible feat of placing...
If you know the difference, then you would not compare Crysis 2 to Killzone 2. Reason being is because it's like comparing Japanese Anime, to CGI, to Pixtar films. (These are all different styles...and one should look at each world to determine which looks better.)
You are not being objective, rather...you are taking the work of someone else's opinion and not comparing level design, physics, and online. Killzone 3 has NO lag online, and NO tearing in their game....WHI...
However,
They could have made much more money and reached out to the fanbase for hype on a possible next product. Speaking of such....1 million copies is not enough encouragement for a sequel. That blows too because this could have been a franchise that kept going.
Your right, they got paid, but I disagree with the statement of the risk paying off, because this company didn't get their name out their like they could have. they made a gamble and took a game that co...
I am loyal to Sony's PS3, but I'm a gamer 1st. At one point, I had all of the next gen platforms...only to later drop everything for the PS3. (Reasons not needed for my point)
Now, the dilemma facing these developers is simple..."How much do we want to get paid, and how do we best make this happen?" Although I think it's "Bush League", I have no problems with M$ approach with securing exclusives and timed exclusives. Likewise, I don't feel ...
Although I do agree that Crysis 2 looks incredible, the thing is...Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 express themselves with different looks.
Killzone 3 is gritty like Gears of War (And I feel its done with better taste), while Crysis is themed like Halo's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Battlefield Bad Company 2. (Which I feel it looks and feel better) Here's the thing with your comment though: pointing out fanboys seems to be the cool thing to do, cause it's a easy way ...
I didn't even read this article...just laughing at the people who actually respond to it. Crysis 2 is cool looking, but in a few weeks....gamestop store shelves will be filled with tons of used copies, as this game only has 15 min. of fame. (and the clock it ticking!)
Pretty, Yes.....but Uncharted 2, is in my opinion STILL the best looking platform game. (K3, MGS4, and GOW3 are very close) So everyone, please do yourself a favor and ignore these "lense of truth"...
Although my above comment prove that I have love for Sony, I recognize and like the 360 as well. I have a strong passion for movies in True HD and for my money, Sony was the easy choice. (I did go through 5 360's before I gave on this generation)
These multiplat "lens of truth" and sales chart arguments means monkey crap to me....because even though Avatar and Titanic are 2 of the highest grosing movies of all time, we all know that the Star Wars (Empire Strike...
Check it out fannys....its different when your money is on the line, something that the reviewers don't have to consider. I use the combination of both reviewers and users (Mainly from youtube) to figure out which game I buy/rent....THAT IS ALL!!
IGN can run their mouth all they want because they get a complementary copy of what we pay $ on. Sure, XBL fees are no big deal when you get free cards all the time....try telling sombody to spend $60 a year and most will tell yo...
The only version that can brag is PC....console stuff is for fanboys.
Anyway, both systems version is about the same. The difference in the two system's version of ports is like Kobe vs. Labron vs. Wade vs. Durant.....you are good with either. (Minus the ring argument of course cause other guys didn't have what Kobe did, and visa versa) People need to drop it with the arguments.....and prey for the ultimate fanboy soultion/battle: mass MP with ps3 against 360. How...
Crysis 2 is pretty much the same for the two consoles. A spec (if that much) difference is no big deal.
People said that sports games were better on PS2 over 1ST Xbox..and agent, not a deal breaker on which system to buy. CRYSIS 2 is cool on both...don't fall for the console war debate.
In my opinion, Crysis is great....however, it is not worthy of a 9. I'd give it a 8.5 mainly because of the graphics and trying to implement something new. (I hate campers and killstreaks....and MP for C2 made me happy)
I couldn't bring myself to buying it though because I find more fun in MW2, Killzone2, and BFBC2. I only have the PS3 now for this generation, (Reasons why is not important for this post) but feel that reviewers throw in Xtras for multiplats to spark s...
Don't feel bad for buying used....only if you burning games and software. Great games don't have to worry about this dilemma, as these products sell at the brand new price. (And later, as greatest hits as well)
Most times, the consumer gets over-charged on games...and are only trying to re-coupe their losses. (Hence, trade in and used game sales.) Think of it this way....MS can't help itself with charging people for XBL. People are gonna pay it, right? (For some ...
