Crytek + Todd Papy = Ryse 2
@DialgaMarine
Uncharted series has sold around 19 - 20 million copies, don't know where you're getting 22-23 from. Gears of War series has sold 21-22 million.
And Uncharted is nowhere near as big as the Gears of War trilogy, it's only as big as it is due to mass bundling, it's really not a popular franchise if not for being giving away for free with PS3 systems.
Uncharted 3 hasn't outsold Gears of War 3 actually, according...
Only Stig or Cory should direct GoW4.
If Dave wants to make a Zelda-like adventure game then he should do it as a new IP, not just change God of War into something it's not.
The God of War series really didn't need another prequel, if Ascension had a better story focused more on Kratos' life as the captain of the spartan army and with his family still alive then it could have been great, I thought they were going to have us play out the scene where Kratos kills his wife and daughter, that's would've been good. Oh well, such wasted potential.
Still want God of War IV eventually! 2016!
Let's see if Todd Papy can help significantly improve the sequel so Ryse can become Microsofts God of War equivalent.
God of War IV needs to be:
1) More open, not too open where it becomes unfocused but enough to let you explore a little.
2) bring back the old composers.
3) Change to Egyptian mythology.
4) Calm Kratos down a bit without making him boring like he was in Ascension.
5) Free camera BUT only during combat scenarios, with a semi-automated camera the rest of the time, a.k.a. you still have some control but it's...
@snookiegamer
10 million?
It cost $27 million to produce which doesn't include the cost to promote or distribute the game.
It cost around $40 altogether and considering it's only sold 1 million and was reduced to a bargain bin price in a few weeks I doubt it made much or any profit yet.
lol Zelda is overrated as hell.
Zelda is a soulless series in decline since 2006, there hasn't been a truly beloved game in the series since 1998.
And even then, Zelda: OoT hasn't stood the test of time like 2005's God of War, it may have been amazing at the time but now it's nothing special unlike God of War which is still a masterpiece. Also none of OoT's successors did much or anything to change/improve the formula unlike GoW 2 & ...
lol Ninja Gaiden? God of War 1, 2 and 3 shit all over that rubbish.
Who even cares about Ninja Gaiden anymore? Perhaps before God of War when DMC & NG rules the genre but that was a long time ago, since 2005 GoW has been the game/series all hack 'n slash games are measured against.
In what world is comparing Lords of Shadow with the most acclaimed, beloved and popular franchise in its genre ever a back-handed compliment?
It was very similar, looking at all the great changes to LoS2 they had the potential to differentiate themselves from GoW with LoS but lacked the confidence to go through with it.
The combat wasn't as fun, GoW3 story is better (LoS is more a self-contained story than GoW3 where you 100% need to play all 3).
I relate to Kratos, there's a lot more to his character than many people think. Gabriel was just depressing and pretty boring, although I love wha...
That is so cool, how awesome is it that we now have the technology to stream huge games directly to our tvs without a dedicated gaming console in sight?!
Growing up with the N64/PS1 and looking at what we have now just amazes me! :)
This will be the best game in the hack 'n slash genre in 4 years, a.k.a. since God of War III released.
I have a feeling this is the game that will be considered by many the swan song of the 7th gen consoles, the last truly amazing game on those consoles.
Really hope it lives up to or surpasses my expectations and gains the recognition and sales it deserves!
I want Uncharted 4 to be a combination of Uncharted 2, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us & Red Dead Redemption.
Uncharted 2's pacing.
Tomb Raider's gameplay.
The Last of Us' presentation.
Red Dead Redemption's openness.
Why? Watch Dogs, Casltevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Destiny, Titanfall, Halo 5, The Order 1886, Driveclub, Dark Souls 2, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros Wii U, Elder Scrolls Online, Quantum Break and more...
There's a lot of games for people to be excited for, even if you don't like all of the above there's something for everyone. 2014 looks to be a very good year when it comes to games.
I would totally play God of Rain.
Nope, 2010 was the best year imo.
God of War III, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Alan Wake, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Halo Reach, Bioshock 2, Bayonetta...
2013 was great though with The Last of Us, GTA V, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite but sadly God of War: Ascension, Gears of War: Judgment, Beyond Two Souls & Gran Turismo 6 were all disappointing.
Looking forward to 2014!
David Cage = Tommy Wiseau
How about Kratos and his family? Constantly backstabbing, betraying and killing each other.
Hell, Ares, Kratos' half-brother, tricked Kratos into killing his own wife & daughter and Zeus turned Kratos' mother into a grotesque beast who he was then forced to fight and kill. Pretty messed up family.
God of War: Ascension should have its multiplayer component remade as a standalone release for PS4 and be free-to-play.
It's a truly great multiplayer experience with loads of potential to be even better in future. If it ran on dedicated servers, was locked at 60hz and had a few more big & small maps it would be flipping magnificent.
A very special studio, I think they know God of War: Ascension disappointed people, none of the devs said it was their favourite SSM game.
I know that GoW4 is going to bring the series back to its glory days, with Cory Barlog in charge and the hiring spree of top game developers it'll be amazing.
Also can't wait for Stig's new IP!
