I love the competition that has been going on between Microsoft and Sony this gen. The PS4 CPU could still do with an up-clock to match some Xbox One in CPU-bound multiplatform games, but it isn't a big enough gulf to be a big deal.
Wow, what an incredibly stupid article. Developers, stop elegantly weaving your narrative into gameplay and level design elements and force it down our throats damnit! This isn't about developers trying to hide their stories like they are somehow embarrassed, these are game developers that are finding the most powerful and elegant methods of telling a story through the medium of games (And for that last part I'm only refering to Dark Souls, certainly not Metal Gear Solid). It's al...
I think this is a non-issue. If anything gamers and companies need to put more focus on the past. On consoles in particular, the past is disappearing. The lack of backward compatibility means for a lot of people older games are out of reach. The other mediums don't have to contend with these problems.
About time. They can start filling the PS Store with interesting stuff now.
It shouldn't have a sub-1080p resolution if it's a remaster, but framerate is surely more important. Who purchases a remaster for a resolution bump?
It's an interesting question. Fallout 4 generally has more polish than 3, and its gun-play has been improved dramatically. It doesn't feel as clunky any more. However it does still suffer from the same problems Fallout 3 had: Jarring animations, spotty writing and spotty voice over. And while it does improve on the game-feel, it also introduces new problems regarding pacing and tone, which are a complete mess at the start of the game. Fallout 3 had a much more consistent atmosphere an...
Only Deus Ex gets a free pass when it comes to cinematic reveal trailers.
I'm also fed up cinematic games for the most part. But what I'm most fed up with is David Cage being given a crapton of money when he can't write for shit and will almost certainly make the interesting themes and subject matter of this game very boring.
The genius part is the part I have a problem with. The man clearly isn't, and his games are B-movies for the most part. It doesn't take a genius to do that. He's also a very bad writer.
We're in trouble if Kojima is really "one of the greatest minds in gaming".
This guy is incredible. The volume, quality and importance of his content is unmatched in games commentary. He also has total integrity. It's a great shame that he'll have to go at some point.
The first Silent Hill game seriously does not deserve to be that high. It arguably shouldn't be on the list. And Silent Hill 2 should be in the top five. The voters obviously didn't play the games.
Thank god at least one developer is making sense. The 1080p check-box is damaging.
It's nice to have some honesty out of CEO's recently. With this generation they seem to have dropped some of the more annoying corporate habits. But remember the PS3 was in a similar or worse position during the last generation and managed to catch up in a few areas like total units sold.
XD wow, I don't need to be a programmer to know that the CELL was a blunder. Pretty much every third party developer will tell you that the CELL was more effort than what it was worth.
Reasons the CELL and PS3 were a pain in the ass to develop for(There are probably were more):
Non-unified memory
Having to run graphics processes on CPU in order to see the full potential
In-order processor
Shitty compiler
Also Sony spent billions in what it t...
I mostly agree, but I don't think it should solely depend on how many sales the console itself has. For example, what if it's like Final Fantasy, where the PS3 was were the fanbase was.
You mean it was the more powerful system if developers wanted to waste loads of money and double development time in order to use that architecture. It was a bad idea, the PS3 was only about 100gflops ahead of the 300gflop 360. It was really not worth the billions in R&D to make that processor.
THANK GOD someone actually said it. The CELL was such a massive blunder. You get very similar performance from the 360 but it's far more accessible to developers and cheaper to manufacture.
Nah, mission 43 is.
He didn't have his name on the MGS4 cover either. Why did nobody care back then?
I'm pretty sure there were leaks regarding backwards compatibility pre-E3, it likely wasn't in response to Microsoft.
