For me, its not just about tech specs. In addition to the quality of games and the consoles produced, I've chosen MS because I feel that Sony insults gamers with every turn.
What shocks me most is why Sony fans are not equally insulted by Sony's apparent disregard of their intelligence.

In typical Japanese arrogance, Sony has the gaul to "introduce", nay...force their expensive, unproven, proprietary Blue Ray DVD player down the throats of the loyal Playstation...

MS offers two price points for GOW. If you can't afford or are unwilling to pay the extra $10 for the "collectors edition", then don't. You have the choice of the standard edition with the exact same gameplay.

GOW will surely be another nail in the coffin for the PS3. Lowering the price of GOW to $49.99 makes no sense as the lower price will not effect the launch of the PS3 in the least.

The Sony next gen console will undoubtedly sellout at launch, re...

Of course vid-cam's have been around for over a decade. I don't read anyone saying this an innovation on MS's part. So, go crawl back to your PS3 site and read about all the great games availab...oh wait...there aren't any great games available.

Traditionally, most new consoles to enter the market has lost money. It's understood and built into the business model. The original Xbox losses were expected and forecasted by MS prior to their entry into the market. It was a sacrifice made in anticipation of future gains with follow-up console releases.

There is no doubt Sony's PS3 will lose considerable money with each console sold just as MS has lost, so far, with the Xbox and the 360.

What's surprising is th...

Answer: Catastrophic failure.
Ok...maybe not "catastrophic" but Sony will most definitely lose the next-gen console race to MS but still maintain a healthy overall marketshare lead with the combined PS2/PS3 sales. And if Blue Ray turns out to be the next Betamax, the PS3 will most likely fall to third place.
Wait...on second thought...it will be a catastrophic failure.

I hate to be a cynic...but the $40 price tag at launch for a next-gen game does not seem to me as some altruistic move on the part of Atari. I mean are we to actually believe, as Bruno Bonnell, Chairman, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Atari stated: "Innovation should be available to everyone, not a privilege for those can afford high price tags"? I would like to believe that but I suspect that an ulterior motive is at hand.
The pricing is most likely a marketing move ...

Sony has been backpeddling since Microsoft entered the console arena. Now Sony is tripping over themselves to catch up as Microsoft soars past.

I clearly remember the shift of power during the Nintendo to Sega conflict. And the shift of power from the Sega to Sony era. I had hopes for a Sega comeback with their excellent Dreamcast system but didn't realize how weak they were financially. Now I see the same shift of power happening between Sony and Microsoft with Nintendo hangi...

The infamous Microsoft OS is so horrible that it is the dominant, de facto standard of operating systems in the world. Yeah, people are staying away in droves.

And the Blue Ray studio support is shaky at best. Every studio is currently in a "wait and see" mode. If the cost of providing their films is significantly lowered, the Blue Ray has a chance.

Also, the HD DVD vs. Blue Ray format war is almost a non-issue for most people. The real penetration of e...

Comparing the Dreamcast to the Xbox/360 consoles is ridiculous. Bottom line: Sega ultimately failed in their console war with Sony was because they didn't have a sufficient war chest for a protracted conflict. The losses over years of mismanagement and failed console attempts prior to the Dreamcast launch was the cause of their ultimate fate. In other words...they simply ran out of money.

I doubt Microsoft has any such problem. They knew that the Xbox was just the opening salvo...

As the "convergence of technologies" enters a new phase in the home entertainment market, I can't see how Sony will dominate in a worldwide market that is both price conscious and necessity driven. The eventual push toward interconnectivity between divergent technologies is what will win the day.

Blue Ray offers absolutely no compelling reason to purchase a $600 console (outside of the tech heads, fanboys and early adopters) especially in a market that will not fully ...

Microsoft continues to push the envelope with innovation after innovation. Xbox Live and Xbox Live Arcade are HUGE and the upcoming Xbox Live Anywhere will continue to change the face of gaming in a big way.
I remember when Sony fanboys compared Microsoft's console future to Sega's Dreamcast failure. However, I don't hear much from those fanboys lately.
As for Sony...I hear about some clear innovations in marketing and technology...with regard to their new motion controller. Oh...

With regards to rts games on a console, this is about as good as it gets. And what we get is a little bit of awesome. If you're looking for the variety of controls found on the PC, you'll be disappointed (and a little stupid).
I judge a good game from a great game by the amount of time I spend during each session without noticing. I jumped into this game at 6pm and didn't stop until I noticed it was 1am. 'nuff said!

I would never pawn off the work of other writers' as my own. But thx for the compliment...I guess.
I still have a hard time grasping why people consider "Spider-Man" and/or "Spider-Man 2" as the best of the genre. Both films were good but will never be considered classics.
"Superman: The Movie", despite the somewhat dated sfx and the overly comical and cheesy depiction of Luthor, is still the best of the genre. No other film comes close.

...but definitely not even close to the best, either. Bryan Singer is overrated. There were a lot of great ideas but the execution was pure rubbish. One example: Singer chose the original music by John Williams from "Superman: The Movie". An inspired choice, right? WRONG. Singer ruins that idea by choosing John Ottman, a hack composer, to basically f*%k up the brilliant original score.

Then there's the writing. A very good story, but the screeplay was, once again, pur...

I am not a fan of rpg's. Never have and I doubt I ever will be. However, certain rts games like "Gettysburgh" on the PC have always intrigued me. After downloading and trying out the LOTR demo, I have rediscoverd gameplay that I thought would never work on a console. I'm heading out to buy this bad boy now.
I love you, XBL Marketplace!
