^Bro, you kind of missed the point with the VTV. Its not going to go up against the Xbox One, Wii U or PS4. Its a middleware to take on Apple TV, Ouya and whatever Google has.
You cannot compare the strategy and this move was also to revitalize the Vita brand in hopes to get more software sales and support. Streaming PS4 games to it is only optional.
Remember the VTV is a stand alone device that can interact with other Sony products it is not an add-on like t...
Guys there is no need to pounce on the man. He cannot even defend himself. We all know his statements are flawed and inaccurate. There is no need to rub it in. lol!
Bro, no need to make a spin out of it. Its clear which side you have already aligned yourself with and there is nothing wrong with that
However, you do not need the VTV for the full PS4 functionality. I think you need to research that a little before spreading false information.
Ugh you do not actually need the VTV for the PS4 to complete its functionality. Its not an add-on and I do not think 50" is the only TV size in the world not that anyone of us have actually seen the VTV on a 50" TV to begin with. So yeah... chill.
But the VTV is a stand alone device. How can it be proprietary?
I mean it can pay PS1/PSP/PSV games directly to the TV without the need of an external source.
So can you clarify? I apologize if I miss your point. Thanks
@Ohio
That would increase the cost of the Vita and having an HDMI out on the new Vita would alienate the early adopters. That would be a slap on the face for the fans who supported the Vita. This is more like middle ground without coming off as an insult to the fanbase.
This device is more in line with Apple TV, Ouya and whatever Google has. That kind of market.
@UltimateMaster
Don't you need the games themselves to have ...
@Ohio
The memory card may not be needed if it works with an external storage. It does have USB at the back.
The memory card may only be for the Vita games that requires to save on it and/or for the owners of the Vita handheld to transfer their save games between the two devices.
@Stsonic
The fact sheets only states 720p, 1080i and 480p. Not sure if its upscaled.
We'll just have to wait for more clarifications.
^Believe me when I say a lot of gamers have actually grumbled about the Vita not having a TV output. This is for them.
My hope is before the VTV gets released outside of Japan. That some of the games that requires the Vita functionality would get patched so they can be playable with either a DS3 and/or a DS4. That way it will be fully compatible with all the Vita games.
Yeah I read that, not all Vita games will work for the Vita TV which is kind of a bummer but it would surprise me if Sony does not patch them in some way for DS4 to work with them. The video shows DS4 working with the Vita TV.
Not the entire Vita sales, of course since Vita TV would help the brand grow but the handheld will probably not expand as intended with this lower cost version in the market.
Like you said this strategy is for the software sales to increase and if it does then its a win-win for Sony and all Vita owners. No more reason not to support the Vita. So fingers cross.
I did say it would hurt the handheld version since frugal/casual gamers would more than likely flock to this version. The price point is hard to ignore.
But if it can increase software sales and increase the Vita's market then in the long run it would be good for Sony. So we'll just have to see if Sony can make a success on this gamble or not.
House already mentioned in the streaming that there would be a global release. Unless I heard that wrong because my net is slow and the stream kept on buffering. We should expect this maybe next year.
That's what I was thinking too. If Vita TV can boost the software sales then there would be no excuse not to support the Vita. It will probably hurt the original handheld version in terms of hardware sales but if the Vita software expands then that would balance things out.
I think House confirmed somewhere it was going to be global. Just wait for further announcement on the release date.
Sony just gave their answer to Apple TV and Ouya.
^^I think you need to research more before you comment. Its okay to favor one console but its sad when you make a post and have no idea what you are talking about.
@CGI
Well I was just making sure there was no misunderstanding on our part because you usually do not state the obvious to the person who has the same point as you do.
Of course in the end it seems some did not get what I said basing on the disagrees. Lol
Edit: NVM I see now where all the misunderstanding is coming from. My reply was for Misaka not fsxii and I did not made it clear. :/
Well it was Nintendo that pushed them to irrelevancy after all. lol!
^Then why bother at all if you don't care about its main feature? If the device was not designed for you. Then move on.
As I have been saying you do not need this to enjoy your PS4 because this device is not aimed for the core console audience.
Besides you may not even get a PS4 by the way you praise the Xbox One so much. So its really a moot point or argument if you put yourself in the equation.
