You can also connect to another 360 over lan to make it 4 player.
Halo 2 had a richer multiplayer experience than most games today. There's a reason why people were still playing it until the original Live service was cut ;)
SP-wise: I can see why some people didn't like jumping out of MC's shoes, but I personally enjoyed the campaign.
