Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm gonna have to go grab it. =)
Seriously, my thoughts exactly. I'm a HUGE Dragon's Dogma fan (AND interested in possibly picking up a Vita after E3) and I still won't touch this. What a waste of both the IP and development resources. *sighs*
Sounds really cool, though I still have to play the first LoS. I played Mirror of Fate on 3DS and enjoyed it. Anyone really like the first Lords of Shadow? I've heard a lot of mixed things about it.
Good points. I'm enjoying it as well. I've gotta download Link's Awakening and give it another play. That is one title I did play on Game Boy back in the day and I remember it was incredible. I remember getting stuck towards the end too and having to call the 1-900 Nintendo hotline number. I don't remember what my friend's mom had to say about the phone bill that month. Haha.
Interesting theories. Though I've heard murmurings about the potential for spying on consumers and whatnot, I suppose I've never thought about the array of possible uses and outcomes (for mandatory Kinect integration) in such a detailed manner.
I wonder if the general public (as in people who don't frequent gaming forums and websites) are aware of these "features", or if Microsoft is banking on them blindly hooking this box up to their TV without giving...
I imagine it more-so comes down to feeling a certain "guilt" about not having played some of these titles. It's that same guilt people feel when classic films they haven't seen get brought up in conversation. (I finally watched The Godfather for that very reason, haha). For the sake of conversation, is it more weird to have never played a Mario game or not even know who/what Mario is? The latter, no? Haha.
"Even if the Kinect bundled with Xbox One is perfect in every way, reading and interpreting our motions perfectly, we still don’t want to use it.
It’s that simple."
Why doesn't Microsoft understand this?
Publisher finances pending, there's no reason why it shouldn't. =)
I had a lot of fun with the games that came out this generation. However, I also feel like this gen was sort of just a stepping stone for a lot of developers and publishers. Hopefully a lot of the lingering ailments the author has pointed out will come to pass and we can experience the true potential of what it means to game this decade.
Anyone else playing Seasons or Ages for the first time? Anyone play them back in the day?
I'm not saying there's no other reason to own a WiiU, but -that- would sell me a WiiU.
I really wish there was a demo out for this game. I want to support it, but don't want to take the $60 gamble without actually playing a bit of it first. I'm guessing this game will garner a cult following at the very least, and I usually end up liking low-profile games because of their creativity and big ideas, even if the execution isn't always flawless.
Good point. I think it's the multiplayer component that makes them especially memorable compared to other titles. Old school meets new school or something to that degree. =)
Interesting to see this kind of list not include Demon's or Dark Souls in this day and age. Perhaps it's because those titles start out hard and get a bit easier and easier as the player levels and progresses. Whereas a lot of the titles the author listed start out difficult and maintain their difficulty throughout the experience? Fun list nonetheless.
Agreed. Dark Sector was ok (and nothing more) in a time when there was nothing better to play. I popped it in not too long ago to see if the visuals (which were stellar for their time) held up, and the game is just clunky and not really fun by today's standards. It is, however, still pretty.
Edit: For those with fond memories of severing limbs with the Krull blade... that part can still be entertaining. lol.
Same here actually. I don't think I discovered the joy of JRPGs until sometime late 2000, wherein I fell under FF7 and 8's spells simultaneously, pretty much playing them in parallel. =)
As long as they blow in the cartridges. =)
Binary Domain. =)
Admittedly this game has only truly popped up on my radar as of late. It's great to hear about features like this, as they make the game sound more interesting than ever before (I love hybrid/pseudo multiplayer modes in games)! I really need to catch up on everything this title has to offer!
Agreed, his work on the SH titles is genius. For those who like Yamaoka's work, the Shadows of the Damned soundtrack is also stellar. =)
