Nintendo will make Mario Galaxy 3. They still have more ideas to explore in that realm. Miyamoto has stated this himself. But even if its Mario 64 2 or a whole new type of Mario world, they will have co-op in there. Co-star mode is fun expanding on it only makes things better.
Im pretty sure they will. They didnt spend millions in R&D to let it fester. But showing games like bayonetta 2 and ninja gaiden 3 razors edge shows me nintendo is making the right moves this generation.

As far as Optical support goes, im sure there will be a adapter you can use. A headset shouldn't sway you from getting a console.
