I agree that games are starting to look very similar. the unreal engine 3 has definitely run it's course.

as i recall (since this only happened a week ago), killzone 2 got pretty incredible reviews.
but about being genre defining...killzone 2 is an FPS on console. if it came out in 1999 instead of 2009 then it would be considered the main FPS for console. it is really hard to make an FPS with original concepts. Halo 1 did it. Bioshock did it (though it was a lot like system shock), Fallout 3. they all took fps and made it into something we haven't seen on console before.

i definitely agree with you about gears multiplayer. and i would give it a much lower score because if you go back and play gears 1...it's like they took a step backwards. gears 1 feels like a much more polished game when compared to gears 2. and i think everyone agrees gears 1 had some major flaws.

it shows in game footage. and the video in this article and the video on their own website aren't even close to similar. the video footage in the article looks incredible. but the actual in game graphics are not topnotch. it looks very good, but not great.

also, i owned an intellivision and that commercial is a pretty accurate representation of how fun it was to play.

i have a day one 360 and never had a single problem. also, i had a ps2 that failed so i trashed it and didn't bother with more cuz it was junk anyway. but i don't know a single person who had a ps2 survive the duration. most ppl were on their 3rd and 4th. but leave it to ridiculous, illogical, hypocritical fanboys like you to criticize MS for making faulty systems and completely ignoring this well known FACT about the ps2.
