i think next gen wont be that different to this gen.
not many companies apart from the giants can afford to produce games that actually push the consoles to their limits.
so if ps4/720 come with some powerhouse consoles, it will make little to no difference because the average software company wont have the resources to actually produce games up 'to scale.'
so what you will end up with is a console with few titles that actually showca...

remember the zelda wiiu demo that wowed everyone?
remember that demo in a japanese garden which a bird flew around and the seasons changed?
both were impressive demos which showcased the wiius (supposed) graphical ability.

people keep sighting the zelda demo as a benchmark for what is possible, but so far NOTHING has even come close ...

i dont think so. since the wii, it seems nintendo is perfectly happy to put out games that look like tech demos (ie wii sports, wiiu music, new super mario bros) and not push graphic design forward in any way... like they did with mario world, mario 64 and wind waker etc.

was zombiu built from the ground up on wiiu or was it developed on wii first? because there is no reason why tech that is supposed to be next gen looks so shit, even on platform exclusive games.
and look at mario wiiu or even pikmin 3. nothing truly next gen from a visual standpoint. in fact, they are very mediocre looking

we'l know how next gen wiiu is when nintendo and 2nd party devs release their 'big' games. if they look no better than uncharted 3, we can safely say wiiu is not next gen hardware.
until then, people should quit using cod as a rule for how powerful wiiu is... cod on wiiu is a port. a port that hasn't even been optimized.

the wiiu version looks just as shit as the 360 version. its a port, so obviously it will be held back from its potential.
plus, its a port on new technology, so if there are any inferiority, its understandable.
if it made specifically on wiiu, or at least optimised, of course it would look better.
but for now, its just a copy of a last gen game. big deal

NOTHING is different between the situation with wiiu at launch, and how wii was perceived at launch.
at launch, the original wii was not considered an upgrade from the gamecube. merely repackaged. did that stop the wii from going on to dominate the global games market? no. did it have a short life? no.
it was a great concept, the tech inside was irrelevant to anyone with a bit of imagination and the desire to have fun.
the same applies to wii...

but the images don't lie. the people saying they look identical are either deluded, blind or just trolling, because the wiiu version looks totally better.
the image looks natural in the wiiu version, the models are blatantly made up of more polygons, the lighting is better, the colour is better (more natural) ... basically, improv...
