Never said it would be pre-rendered but running on the game engine just refers to not using a 3rd party render engine, not that the game will look 100% like that. There is no such thing as a second party developer, Insomniac is partially owned by Sony and Sony owns the publishing rights to bith the Ratchet and Clank and Resistance IP. If insomniac was not that fond of Sony they could make games for the 360. It's the same with Bungie and Halo, MS publishes halo and owns the rights to the IP but as now Bungie is free they can make games for PS3 just not Halo.

Well... the game would be pointless as Zelda games were always about the puzzles and dungeons.. Removing the actual challenge removes what makes these games great.
However no-one is forcing you to use it so it is no big deal.
