well to give credit to valve. portal 1 was mostly portals that had limitations.
in portal 2 there are actually many sections of the game pasted together with big opening size portals that you dont even see, their system for portal implementation is highly efficient and is used for more than just portals for many things including level building and time efficient changes to the design.
the technology begind it is more than just portals that transport one objet...

well the way i approach it is from a bargaining standpoint. i usually follow a tick tock upgrade pattern kinda like intel. and it lasts about 10 years, so for my tick upgrade I replace all of the critical components of my pc to a standard that i feel is cost effective i just recently did this and i spent about $600, so i got a 2nd gen i52500k a new mobo that supports 2gpus and an ati radeon 6970.

Dude i just had a quadcore Black Edition amd chip and while they are good for the price my recent upgrade to an I5 2500k (not even an I7)has Shown me the Absolute TOTAL SHEER DOMINANCE intel has over AMD right now.
these chips are literally twice as fast.
I love AMD but intels really got something here.
