I feel like last gens games were just more creative than a lot of this gen's games, especially on the ps2 and gamecube. I like shooters just fine, but this gen just didn't have the charm the last one did. :(
What about bf3? It runs better on ps3. One week early dlc and a free game. Portal 2? Has Steam connectivity. If I remember correctly, Revelations runs better on ps3 and comes with the original assasins creed. You should really consider all multiplats, several were better on ps3 and had more content. I consider this to be a pretty mediocre year for 360 myself, I mean, only Forza and Gear? Really? I agree with papertiger, are you just blinded by your love for MS?
I'm 18 now, and when I was a kid I was actually uninterested in most M rated games, they just didn't seem as fun to me as games like mario, zelda, banjo kazooie, etc. There were some exceptions like conker's bad fur day though.

You really think ps4 and nextbox will come out immediately after wii u? I imagine the other next gen consoles will come out in 2013 at the earliest, and with them coming out a year later it is reasonable to think the newer systems will probably have a little better tech. Not to mention, there is no way Sony and MS would want to have a weaker syst...
Well considering the Wii U will come out a decent amount of time before the ps4 and nextbox, it is likely that it will be a little less powerful than the other two systems. Only a little though, I don't imagine the gap being very big. Like you said though, there is still no way to know for sure what happens.

I really hope unit 13, or whatever it's called, turns out pretty good. I loved the socom series on the psp.
MK on the wii was the worst imo, way too unbalanced. My favorite ones were double dash and ds.

Well they are still sticks, but they are very low profile, so it shouldn't be a problem.
@sjaakiejj of course that's why I said it was understandable to market to men. I was saying that "IT'S NOT FOR WOMEN" was kind of overkill. They could have just made it seem masculine with out tossing women out the window. Obviously women can still buy it but why even risk pissing them off? There's no point.
It's understandable to try to go after the male audience, but that doesn't mean you directly exclude women. Even if more men drink Dr Pepper than women, why would you want to ignore half the people you could be marketing to? Such a dumb commercial, though its so stupid its kind of funny.

What the best shooter of the year is depends on whether you are looking at the multiplayer or single player. BF3 obviously would get the multiplayer pick from most people, but it's campaign was really nothing special.
