Really its MS who have done this. They said controller less gaming is the future, they showed all those staged demonstrations that they could not make a reality. They planted the seed in the minds of impressionable young halo kids that kinect was almost like a new platform.
They took the hype machine too far and it cant deliver the promise, that's why people give it shit.

Its one of those things that you know but cant effectively define. I think like you, that the difference is the investment in to the hobby,and so naturally hardcore audiences have games that are more complex and layered to suit how adept they are with the control. Casual games are basically low skill requirement, low commitment, and because of this unfortunately for the most part lower production value.

I would say move is merging markets. Its providing entertainment for the casuals and enhancing hardcore games, then you have titles like sorcery which bridge the gap.
No one denies the premise behind move is like the wii, but unlike the wii the controls actually work to the point where they can be utilised properly. Think about it, the best games on wii are the ones that dont use motion control or have it as a secondary feature.

sure those sony games may be kiddy in the subject matter and or demographic they are aimed at but in the end, even those games are way more hardcore in terms of actual gameplay than anything on kinect.
Kinect games are simplified and assisted due to the limit of the technology, to the point that gameplay is pretty much non existent. Kinect games are forced to be kiddy not by choice, but by limitations.

When Natal was first shown at e3 2009 everyone knew milo and all those other demos were BS, guess what.. it was confirmed as true. Ever since then all we have seen is kinect completely failing at every game it demonstrates bar the ones with the most simplified braindead gameplay but then those games could be done on an eyetoy.

Logic is completely flawed. First of all you have NO official total of move game sales to even begin with, second you don't take in to account games like RE5, Heavy Rain, Mag beta etc which have simply been patched to enable move, and finally and most importantly people tend to buy more than one move controller at a time so obviously that would not require purchasing a game twice.
How about we look at how much of the 360 install base is just replacement consoles instead ...

When a game has this much production value, the complaints about it are reallly only going to be preferencial ones. If you are Naruto fan you wouldn't even need to question whether or not to buy this.
