One of the benefits of the Game Informer review system is the "second opinion" concept. This is one of the reasons I like Game Informer. So an 8.75 and a 9 are decent scores.
I am fairly confident that if this game had a 360 logo, it would score higher. There honestly does seem to be a curve placed on PS3 games. Many people may disagree with this, but many more people are starting to see this...
Seriously...
1) Not even really a level. It was after the bomb went off... you could barely walk out of the back of the chopper... cinders flying everywhere... looked like scenes from "Constintine", when he was in hell... and then you died. It was a stunningly beautiful use of color, particles, and filters...
2) The AC-130 level... man that was kinda creepy... the white hot filter... the feeling of air superiority... the almost guilt of wiping out so many people... th...
+ The weapon effects look really nice. The enemy "glow balls" look especially cool on the third clip. The "warp screen bubble" thing is nice as well.
- Considerable screen tearing, and frame rate issues. They almost seem to happen in the same place in each video.
+/- AI = Easy mode on?
@jason
I didn't think you would have anything to say to the edit...
Is that Betamax -> Betacam -> Digibeta -> HDcam...
There is a Sony digibeta deck in EVERY TV studio on earth. And an Sony HDCAM deck in any studio that does HD broadcast. Betamax really only died in the consumer market. Sony beta IS the production format from NTSC D1 frames, all the way up to HD.
So, yes... the consumer market did choose the inferior VCR format, but the vid/tv and film/telecine world went with beta and its descendants.

This quote right here:
"Playstation 3 has “processing power” based entirely off of Floating Point math calculations. Power like that is great for a computer spreadsheet, but finding ways to efficiently use processing power like that in videogames for the purposes of graphics is MUCH more difficult! "
Proves that you honestly have NO idea what you are talking about...
sorry...
hehe...
o_O
That's what I'm talking about...
Nice one...
They won't load for me... There are a few on NeoGAF...
Looks like someone needs to rehost these images on another server...

EDIT: I think these are from an ancient build or something. Go follow the thread if interested. Some of the images seem to have texture problems.
I am still in shock, from how beautiful this game looks...

Dude, the PPE is a standard compliant PowerPC(23 stage pipeline) chip, with both L1 and L2 cache. Each of the SPE's have their own local cache as well. Not sure where your no cache info comes from.
Again, out of order operations can be dealt with, with matrix operations. I would suggest taking a look at the IBM research site, on how this is done in code, and in the compiler for SPU's. But if you insist, use the PPU.
Remember you have always have DMA access to...
Your quote:
"AI, for example, will never be a PS3 strong-point - it sucks at out of order instructions. And please don't give me a list of games where you think the AI is great - the simple fact is that the PS3 is not powerful when it comes to OOO instructions. Creative programming can sometimes overcome this but it depends."
You have been fed a myth. The PPU has full branch prediction, and can handle out of order operations like any other PPC chip. T...

A nice positive true gamers response...
your quote:
"It's very powerful from a computational standpoint and can replace a GPU if programmed correctly however that power will not be realized for another few years."
Both Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted use the SPU's for shaders. Those are tasks the GPU normally does...
So, "another few years" = today.
What we really need here are admins, to clean up some of the trolling. This site would benefit from a few different banning systems, and even permabans...
It would be nice if people could discuss games critically, without all the children screaming the whole time.
I am sending you a bubble... as long as you try not to stoop to their level... ;)
we all know this game rocks...
and no troll will change that...
I realize we have fanboy fighting and what not... But everyone needs to realize that what some of these "reviewers" are doing is detrimental. These silly low scores are going to negatively effect us all.
Companies need to be rewarded for technical achievements, be they graphics, gameplay, multiplayer, contents etc...
The fanboy mentality is going to hurt everyone in the end... some competition is good, but they way "reviewers" have been ...
