This may be off topic, but is related to the "media device" concept.
The 360 HDMI does not meet the HDMI 1.0 spec, and thus cannot transmit uncompressed 5.1 PCM lossless audio out of the HDMI port.
Until there is a board redesign on the 360, to fix the HDMI, it will always be black balled because of this...

I don't think I have ever seen so many people coming into the ps3 section to cry...
Man, if you are gamer, you are eventually going to buy a ps3... I mean come on, where were you guys during the last few generations?
Just get yourself a ps3... things are only going to get better day by day...
And, this game is going to be the end of the Metal Gear Solid series... Everyone will buy this, as it will be a must have for any gamer as an archive of th...
Man... looking sweet...
I wonder if the dropship has chaff? How much damage can it take? Can you jump out at any time? What is the speed of this thing? Can a flag carrier get in this, or in the vehicle below? Are air mines going to have lights? The lighting gun is going to look so boss at night...
This is looking incredible... That twilight night sky is calling me...

What game even comes close to Uncharted on the 360. Your comment is obviously BS. What single game on the 360 beats the textures, shadows, AI, and animation of Uncharted, and runs at true 720p? Uncharted has set a new bar for gaming.
And I do not give a crap of what a ...

So, yeah... my point was that the peculiar resolution of 1024x600 (600p) is completely a resolution based upon common 360 resolution. And that resolution has been known as the ~max that can fit in the EDRAM, and still have AA.
I would assume, the IW technical design team got together and found a common denominator to shoot for... this being 600p and went from there. Yes the 600p makes NO sense on the p...
1024x600 (600p) is the resolution used by the 360 in order to use the EDRAM. This is the maximum size that can be done on the 360, without tiling and having AA. In reality COD4 is based on the same assets (assets meaning, in terms of data structures sizes), and is based on a 360 memory structure of the EDRAM.
It's not really fair to compare PC card rendering, to console rendering. Console game are really only designed specifically for 1 resolution. And all assets are desi...
I don't think bashing on Beyond3D is going to be very successful. These guys don't give a damn about a stupid console war. Beyond that, they actually know what they are talking about. Console discussion is only a small part of what goes on there...
Too much turkey... I think I need to vomit...
Anyway, it makes sense that both versions would be the same. They decided to use the same assets. I would imagine they began with a solution/resolution that they worked with in the past, and went from there. Being multi-platform, requires that they use what works for both console versions.
I would expect games that are not multi-platform to be more tied to the hardware, and thus probably push the resolutions if de...

Anyone who has actually played the game, knows that this is one of the best console games ever...
Tired of the review bs...
Maybe its the title of article that has attracted people? And I do not see how Sony is involved when a comparison is made to Crysis, a PC game.
Further, there are also PC gamers on this site, as it was listed in the PC section as well. Beyond that, all articles show up on the n4g front page.

The whole achievement thing is really noobish to me... I mean, I have been playing games for decades, and the only achievement was me doing well, or finishing a game... or owning someone in quake ctf... And thats not even an achievement, its just a game.
Achievements often lead to some pretty crappy game issues:
Points "grinding": I was playing CTF WarHawk, and my team was camping in the base. One of the kids said: "Hey, we are just points gri...

The bottle is now full of water.

The water spills to the ground and evaporates.

"and were told that although the third layer would be harder to read, and generate more data errors, the player's error correction should be able to fix these problems without picture and sound problems."
If you are banking on this comment, then I think you should look somewhere else. I would prefer something better than hearsay, from a CNET reporter. The idea that you would be doing error correction from the start is not acceptable.

But I have not really done much with it... I played around with the Eyecreate software... its cool, with nice effects, but its basic... make clips, with effects if desired, and save... and a minimal movie create option...
I look forward to using it in a chat session, but I really am not one to want to be in front of a camera.
I still need to do the psp-ps3 remote play thing with it...
I was pulled away by my gaming smack, Warhawk... I now Unchart...
You will enjoy everyday shooter for sure...
I liked flow as well... its easy to introduce new gamers to that game...

Your quotes:
"the CPU of the PS3 can NEVER access more than 256MB of RAM at any point." = False
Do not pretend you know what unified memory or numa memory is about. Do yourself a favor and read up about NUMA systems.
There are no design choices based upon the 360. The cell design is the next generation of chip design from IBM. Have you even bothered to read IBM research articles, and why they designed the cell...
