It sounds as though the app will have specific features for some of Nintendos online games.
Basically rather than requiring a separate app for splatoon 2 it'll all run through the Nintendo Online app.
Don't approve this.
All this is going to do is rile up fanboys and the piece isn't even long enough to convince me it was done with intent to evoke rational/intelligent discussion. This article is flame baiting for hits don't approve.
Because the PC version needs it?

Don't be a sucker.
There's a big difference between what's advertised and reality. Would it sell better if they called it a handheld that you can play on your tv? Or if they called it a Home console that you can take with you on the go?
Think about what sounds better there when those are your two choices of messa...
I think if they can find a way to make a good value battery pack we could see a stronger device with less of a trade-off when it comes to battery power.
I like the direction they're going in with the Switch but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want atleast 10-15% more power.
DQXI is not going to push Ps4s off the shelves in huge numbers.
It'll sell well on 3DS but I'm not so sure on other systems.
Japan just doesn't care much for the home console market like it used to. At this point culture is the deciding factor for a game system in Japan.
Also look at the sales of more recent releases of FF and KH games and show me what data suggests that they're going to shift PS4s off the shelves in hug...
Dota 2 has a fairer model anyway tbh.
Sucks though that politics has to interfere with people's hobbies even if it's indirectly.
@PapaBop
You've nailed it.
That's for the most part the point I'm trying to make.
I can agree to that.
Indies make the majority of the best games that release these days imo and there's a good bunch of them coming to Switch this year.
"i disagree, the team of mario kart are very good at what they do"
They certainly are! But that's not the point.
Look at the scale of the tracks in MK8 and compare them to tge stages in ARMS. I don't think ARMS requires the same manpower/resources as MK8 did.
"arms getting a year of DLC free, development have not stop"
Again that's great! But post launch content is significantly cheaper...
Never said it was a small title. Just that its definetly not on the scale of Botw, Mario: Odyssey or even Splatoon 2.
It's a great game and I've logged 20 hours onto it thus far but based on what I'm seeing this game definitely didn't require a huge budget.
My point of bringing that up is to question the idea that Nintendo is only focusing on bigger projects now.
I know what you mean dude. Playing on PC I just look at all these tiny games being made for consoles and then I look at a huge game like Star Citizen and laugh..... /s
If you want to classify Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey as small projects then that's fine. Just remember that they're showing up 90% of the "big projects" at E3.
That's a little disappointing if true.
“I think internally they are only really interested in doing the big projects now. Whether that was since Iwata-san passed away or not, I don’t know. But they are less inclined in doing experimental things now, I think.”
I think that in some cases Nintendo has crossed a line that they shouldn't have with experimental ideas with games like Star Fox Zero and Metroid: Federation Force being major culprits.
Wonder if there will be a Grandpa Mario franchise one day XD
At the very least give the first level a go (I think it's in the online demo too). It has 2 incredible boss fights in it that are some of the most memorable I've played.
@prankster101
In all seriousness do you actually like any games? Because your comment history is for the most part you whining about what Nintendo fans like.
How about you take some time out kid and start playing some games yeah?
Can't wait!
Hopefully this isn't just a "re-FRESH-er" on the stuff we've seen earlier in the year. Would be really cool if there's still more new stuff in it to show.
Shantae for Switch was teased in the exact same way using red and blue.
Great news if it's Bayo2 for Switch because that game is easily in my top 5 Wii U games so it'll be a blast to play through again.
Well yeah it is a new game. At the initial reveal the concern about it not containing enough content to justify the 2 in the title were justified. Anyone pushing that narrative now is being deliberately ignorant or trolling.
"It sounds as though the app will have specific features for some of Nintendos online games."
I'm talking about the SplatNet 2 announcement and how it will run through the Nintendo Online app rather than requiring a separate app.
Considering many games have opted to separate things like viewing your stats from the main game and make them only viewable through the official website or an app I guess it is.
