"I'm just going to laugh at this. Insomniac failed at combat with Spider-man? Ok....I'm not bothering with anymore of this. It has gotten so absurd that it is now boring."
Because you don't know the game that well. After the half-way point of the game you can easily get 12 free takedowns per combat encounter MINIMIUM. Each takedown basically requires little more to press square and triangle at the same time. That is what basic enemies became in regards...
@RazzerRedux
"The inspiration of Spider-man being Spider-man is absurdly obvious."
So not original. Thank you. They had a blueprint.
"And no, I wasn't talking about what inspired the combat system either. You tell me which requires more development effort. A Final Fantasy style turn-based system or Batman's combat requiring on-the-fly system in an open world? You tell me. What was more difficult? Cartman bouncing ...
Looks more like melee warframe tbh.
"lol.....are you serious? Insomniac had to develop an open world, populate that world, develop the mechanics/physics/controls of web slinging through that world, creating an effective and expansive Spidey combat system, as well as create an original story."
So they didn't have any source material to draw references from? You think the characters aren't heavily inspired by their previous incarnations in comics/movies? You think the designs are completely or...
Imo Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Ori, Hellblade, Titanfall, Shovel Knight, Sekiro and Splatoon are the things I most enjoyed this gen when it comes to new IP's.
Average comment from average gamer.
@CoinOrc
Socially or economically? Socially, yeah you're highly unlikely to find someone because the majority of Zoomers and Millenials dont align with, let's say, Republicans or Tories when it comes to social issues. Believe it or not, actively doing things that suggest you dont like the gays isn't the best view to have when it comes to making connections.
Economically? Different story. I'd wager money that a lot of socially left leaning ...
@Tacoboto
Yes and no. When I clicked the article it had a completely different headline to what was listed on N4G, and had just been approved. I'd place the blame more on whoever approved the story on N4G (especially considering it still hasn't been updated), however, Gamespot takes some blame for thinking up that original headline in the first place.
This is why you should actually read the story, and not just the headline...

@xX-oldboy-Xx
"Of course its sad if its at the expense of new ips and experiences."
Can you provide evidence that Rare is diverting staff and resources who're originally working on Everwild to develop the enhancement update for Sea of Thieves?
I think it's a relatively wise strategy. The amount of money mobile games makes is likely huge when compared to the budget of the games. While console games also makes a ton of money, I'd say it takes way more effort and money to develop and game capable of doing so.
Keeping a presence in the mobile market funnels money to help with traditional game development. It's not a system of one destroying the other, but of coexisting to create a safer business model.
@caddytrek
I mean hes unfortunately established himself as having the most anti free-speech platform for a president in US history with the revoke 230 tweet, so you might be right.
"most of you probably don't know, but they always trying to rewrite history, denying horribles things red army did after ww2 to many occupied countries"
Just about every country with a somewhat lengthy history has people that do this. There are British people that try to defend the numerous famines in India that were caused largely by the British Empire, Japanese people who defend the occupation of Korea, and Americans who defend the Confederates states.
It was not a risk. This game was getting free publicity long before it was even fully revealed and constantly hyped up at events and by media. Also, a huge budget accompanied by access to modify Sonys in-house engine for themselves. If this was a risk Sony definitely wasn't viewing as such with the way they were dumping resources into it.
"Turns out that people do want something different and it's worth doing. At least from a console maker standpoint."

"The xbox doesnt appeal to them because of its size, and the overuse of the "X" (which in their culture is a negative connotation)."
Um, theres an X button on the Playstation controller, and are you aware they consider the number 4 to be an unlucky number, right?
@Meteor
You dont have a controller?
I mean, I would actually agree with that logic. 60fps is an incredibly important factor and I'm disappointed whenever a game targets 30 instead.
@Spurg
"So I'm being labeled as a racist now for making an observation which you've failed to counter."
Buddy, you didn't make any points. You made a claim and didn't back it up in the slightest. At a glance Kamala has a stereotypical feminine haircut, breasts and a rectangular build which is more common among athletic women. You've cited nothing. I would however recommend you tread carefully as we still don't know exactl...
"The more recent Microsoft Studios acquisitions are smaller-scale indies that lean more towards AA titles rather than huge AAA blockbuster IPs like the Yakuza series."
Most are definitely mid scale (AA), but they've definitely developed games worth more than your typical Yakuza release. I think the Yakuza games are usually lucky to break 500k. Even Double Fine (likely one of the smaller acquisitions) outperforms those sales.
Also, if Yakuza ...
