We'll see. Even COD is not invincible and following Battle Royale gives consumers the impression they've fallen behind or the series has grown stale.

Was there really a need for this? The reason I hate that they sell part of the game is because I won't be able to play the full game years after the download vanishes.

Its just a DRM tactic and nothing more.

@Kumakai
Just because there is a smaller market for single player games doesn't mean its not there. Whoever your publisher is is just blinded by the amount of green on the table from service based games. Yeah you are getting a lot NOW but what about when the market becomes flooded?

This is the problem with your parroting of "the market is too small" because it IS STILL THERE! Being smaller doesn't mean it doesn't exist or it's not worth ...

@REDGUM
Pro tip: cut your budgets. It doesn't have to go up in dev cost. It can cost just as much as it did in the PS2 era if they stop pandering to hollywood budgets.

Nintendo were right to handle it like that. There is no way that every character thats ever been in the series was there should stay a secret that "we find out for ourselves". People can boycott fighting games when their favourites leave.

Because it works perfectly in the method it uses. In the past Nintendo have only had you hook up your handhelds or cartridges to the console (like N64 or Gamecube) while Sony took a very flawed approach with remote play.

The way it operates as a hybrid is right. Its the way it operates as a dedicated console thats the issue.

Most people say its a handheld because they treat it as one. The thing is as a modern day console its way behind the others with online functionality and memory. It might operate as a console as well but the main system was obviously still built as a handheld.

The reality is Switch feels like the offspring of Wii U and Vita after they came together to discuss why they failed and joined forces into one device. Vita offered Wii U the third party support it got in niche Jap...

@Ceaser9857361

I disagree. A streaming platform would be up in the air but a proper console with really good marketing could be enough to cast Microsoft out completely given their struggle to regain the trust. Chrome products have been downing even Apple because of how affordable they are.

2819d ago 1 agree11 disagreeView comment

Its a similar situation on Nintendo with AAA games. The manufacturers push for certain releases on the system (lets face it they don't get to pick and choose) and the gamers have to put their money on the table in exchange for the offer.

Part of the issue stems from how the third party in question treats the fanbase. To get certain games on Switch you need to download a sizeable update and require a memory card on hand. On the Xbox end Microsoft's printing policy...

Some people legitimately believe the franchise creator owns the IP. No Itagaki meant no Ninja Gaiden or DOA. No Kojima meant no MGS. The franchises continue without them.

In regards to Sakurai he let his own power carry him through last time. He was being bias towards a certain franchise. When one group benefits from your decisions it requires a serious reevaluation.

Sakurai completely vindicated himself now. He's prioritised Zelda ahead of Fire...

You what mate? How is adding crossplay going to send them out of business?

Ok Microsoft, you have my attention. Prove you are committed to keeping them open and see exclusives on the market and I might have to buy an X1.

2837d ago 4 agree10 disagreeView comment

For one you ignored my point that only select games like COD and Battlefield top charts, on the other end you've ignored the amount of money companies are making.

Get this for a fact. Games don't need to top NPDs to be profitable. NISA games are selling twice as much on Switch as PS4, this came from the horses mouth. You've danced around points to suit your agenda.

Japanese games and Indie games are still third party support. It isn't ...

1. If you actually check the sales figures you'll see its not as clear cut as you make it out to be and only certain titles outsell the exclusives even on those other systems. Horizon sold as much as BOTW.

2. EA are supposed to be the leading publisher and set the example. Not play second fiddle to everybody else. EA can't complain at sales if they aren't even trying to see if their games sell in the first place. They can't use Ubisoft or Bethesda to ref...

@MuddyWaters
Looking at AAA yes but you are conveniently ignoring things like Blossom Tales which had 20 times as much revenue and NISA which are having a lot of success on Switch.

Niche Japanese games and Indie games are still third party games whether it suits your agenda or not.

2838d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Switch fanboys are giving the community a bad name. They are never going to get everything on Switch, in fact I argue they should be grateful they are getting anything at all. Apart from Nintendo themselves virtually everything skipped Wii U.

2838d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

@wonderfulmonkeyman
It was partially true of their consoles (although some games were exceptions) but its never applied to their handhelds. The reality is EA see Nintendo as a threat to their business model because their online is way behind and they don't push controlling DRM or loot boxes like the other manufacturers do.

The issue with sales is pure hyperbole. Xenoverse 2 outsold the PS4 version in Japan. People blame Nintendo for their image or the owners...
