I enjoyed the gameplay, hated the storytelling and dialogue.
I quite enjoy stealth games actually. Pandora Tomorrow, the Hitman series, Dishonored and the likes resonate with me. The gameplay in Kojima's games isn't the problem. It's the storytelling and the dialogue. It's so cheesy and cringeworthy and downright nonsensical.
