"Over the years, the tone of the Resident Evil series has morphed from a George Romero horror flick to Michael Bay summer blockbuster." - Gameinformer
And that's exactly why I have no more interest in this series. Everything that was good about it is no more.
Hellboy, Constantine, Psylock, Nightcrawler, Hawkeye and The Tick. Some of those choices may seem weird, but I would just LOVE to see any of those in a videogame done by a developer as talented as rocksteady.
Metal Gear Solid 3 almost brought me to tears after that ending. Final Fantasy X did it as well. Can't think of any other game aside from those two.
@Carl
It's almost naive to think of Capcom as ilogical. Resident Evil 5 is the best selling entry in the franchise; It also is the most hated one. What's the lesson here? Brands sells independent of quality. Therefore, to create a whole new ip out of respect for the old fans would not be the logical thing to do, it would be the decent thing instead - and that's what Capcom lacks. Decency, not logic.
And judging from what I saw in those two demo they releas...
Right, I remember a time when manuals were thick and full of cool content, like character profiles, backstory and artwork. Those days are long gone. I can't even remember when was the last time I saw a nice manual just like that.
Since co-op is such an important feature for Resident Evil's new fanbase, Crapcom should implement a gaming mode just for that. Something like mercenaries – some sort of co-op horde mode, without a timer, where you could go through the main campaign stages with a buddy, without story or cutscenes. This way they could really please both ways: the old fanbase would have their story mode unscrewed by forced co-op, and the new fanbase would have their multiplayer fix.
The karate button is one of my main quarrels with this game. You can just run around roundhouse-kicking everything in your path as if you were in a freaking Van Damme movie audition. It is absolutely ridiculous for a self proclaimed horror game to allow you to survive by spamming tiger-claw and wrestling moves! Come on, you don't stop a f...ing zombie punching him in the nose! Are you kidding me?! You just don't! One tiny mistake and you could easily become one of them, so it would be...
... in our hearts.
As much as I wish you were right, I hardly think this will be a failure. At least not financially, anyway. People are bound to blindly make this a hit by brand alone. Just look at how RE5 sold - it's the best selling entry in this franchise! Most people buy brand, not quallity.
I'll never understand this obsession with performance rivallity. I have a ps3 and can't afford having other console or a gaming PC, so maybe I have been getting all the inferior game versions so far. I don't know and as long there's no gamebreaking bugs in my games, neither do I care! I'll have a blast either way, so why bother with comparison articles at all? Seven years into this generation with one single console of choice and let me tell you: I have no regrets as my ga...
Looking good!!
I was actually overly excited about the first trailer! I remember that I was laying down in bed, my head on my girlfriend's lap, when I first saw the headlines about a RE6 confirmation AND trailer. I jumped out of bed so fast that she was scared. She giggled as I gasped out of surprise by the sight of Chris and Leon on the same trailer. lol
Silly me... a few days later and I was in a world of disappointment. Again. I'm too trustfull.
"True fans of the series are loving it..."
Just what in the friggin' hell are you smoking, son?!
Well, the first Borderlands worked perfectly on my ps3. Additionally, - IF I'm not mistaken - reviewers are saying that there's not much difference regarding each platform performance.
Yada yada yada, I have no life...

I'd normally agree with you, but since RE5, the movies and the games are not so much different anymore.
Sex in gaming?! Don't be ridiculous, that's imoral! Although...

"I also said having your opinion on older games is fine, but your spouting that Capcom has lost it for not keeping the gameplay archaic in design and instead of moving forward you want them to move back."
They don't need to keep the gameplay archaic. Dead Space' gameplay was way more sophisticated than Resident Evil 5's - it was also much more akin to a horror experience. What makes Resident Evil a Resident Evil game? It...
