@wiz, no they cant afford activision,, but you are lying to yourself about not being able to buy a big publisher. How salty are you going to be when this deal closes and Sony aquires capcom. I can see them acquiring both capcom and square Enix. They may not be able to afford Activision or even EA, but those publishers games are mid at best. Give me capcom and square over Activision all day.
@lelo because it's yet another exclusive you can't play on xbox. It's not too late to make the switch to ps5, they have FAR superior studios, much better exclusives both 1st and 3rd party. some people are crying about this, but it's going to be a lot worse when MGS remake officially gets it's reveal.
@orchard, I'm not for these huge aquisitions, bit id certainly trade square and capcom for Activision in a heartbeat. That's just me, I know there are millions of cod players, but I can't stand the game personally. Losing cod would be a huge hit, bit it wouldn't be devastating. They own bungie and haven and they have partnerships with other studios making shooters like firewallk and deviation games. Not to mention there are several other Sony studios working on multi-play...
Why would PS need tomb raider, they already have the superior uncharted series. FF is definitely their crown jewel, it's not even close. Don't really care all that much about Dragon quest, and kingdom hearts. The nier series is really good and if they were to aquire them I hope they revive some dormant ips like parasites eve.

While Sony had massive 1st party exclusives like HFW, ragnarok and gt7, MS had zilch. Spiderman 2 and FF16 will both be bigger games than Starfield. Ofcourse if Zelda releases that will be huge for nintendo. Next yr is a make it break yr for xbox; I Fully expect Sony to be on fire next yr. If xbox doesn't bring their A game, they are getting left in the dust.

I hate Activision games they are generally trash, but there are literally millions of PS COD players who will lose this franchise in the future. talk about a false equivancy. there is a MASSIVE difference between buying a publisher who actually sells way more games for a rival, and buying studios that have worked almost exclusively with your company. naughty dog were located literally right next door to sony santa monica when the 2 studios first started, they no doubt built up a great partnership before being aquired. same thing with insomniac, they almost exclusively had made games for sony over the yrs except the duds liken fus...
yah ive said this for months, its not going to cross the finish line without concessions. at the very least i think they will have to guarantee day and date relase permanently. they might even have a oroblem with it going onto ganepass as well.
thats exactly why they sold the western devs. sony made it clear they were not interested in th3r western devs, only the japan studios. also square themselves were not happy with the western devs as they often had high budgets on their games but always seemed to miss their goals. whether it is an outright aquisition or just buying majority shares in the japan studios, i definitely see sony locking out MS from FF games. they got the remake of the psp game, but i dont see them getting their ...
i do hope sony snaps up capcom and square. hopefully they can increase their shares in fromsoftware as well. not exactly a fair trade compared to bethesda and activision, but id much rather have square and capcom anyways.

@FPS i wouldnt buy a ps5 for 1 game either, but PS has far and away the best studios and games in the business. every single yr they are in the running for game of the yr. its been a great yr for PS, and its only going to get better. ive had an awesome time playing my ps5 with games like rift apart, HFW, returnal, ragnarok, gt7, last of us. cant wait to see what all the sony studios have in store.
nah more like 1 yr for some, longer for others. the only day 1 games are going to be the live service games, which makes sense otherwise they wouldnt be able get the player number needed to make them a success.

@lifexline. Be careful what you wish for. Sony is no doubt DEEP into aquisition talks with other studio/publishers. How you going to feel if Sony swoops in and aquires the likes of capcom, square, cdpr or fromsoftware. They very easily could aquire atleast a couple of the companies I mentioned.
