Gain trust back? Nintendo?

The ones who need to do that are the third party publishers who released horrible ports and publicly insulted the Wii U install base. Not Nintendo, who has done a very good job of keeping the console afloat for the past two years.

Also, obligatory "no one has idea what the NX will be". Most comments on here are based on the assumption it will be a replacement for the Wii U which is directly counter to what Nintendo has ...

@ suckingeggs.

On the contrary. You are saying exactly what most users on N4G want to hear.

The fact of the matter is we still know NOTHING as to what the NX is. Speculate all you want, it cannot be used for any other logical reasoning concerning the Wii U, the Wii U's games, or Nintendo, as the only information we know is that it exists, and we will hear more of it at E3 2016.

You cannot use 'no news for Zelda Wii U' as proof o...

Now hold up. I've followed news concerning the Wii U since it was released, and I would say the majority of articles and comments are devoted entirely to criticizing it. It seemed not a month would go by without a 'Nintendo is Doomed' or "Wii U is Dead" article. Yet I have seen comments, most of them within the past month, that seem to think Nintendo has been given a 'free pass' in regards to games, online, hardware, controller, pretty much everything, and tha...

All three are antiquated from a PC point of view. I prefer the Wii U brand of antiquity with the tablet more than the other two (off TV play is a winner in my book).

Even more-so when those 3 or 4 games Nintendo releases all appeal to me, are finished, and have smooth releases. Which is more than can be said for many of the games the other two consoles use to fill in their own droughts.

Doesn't splatoon look inkredible, have praise-worthy physics applied to all the ink that flies around, and runs at 60 fps?

Simple, undemanding, cartoony... smh...

As for project cars, I believe it was the physics engine that eventually made it run sub 30 fps on the Wii U. I could be wrong, as the forum post stating they were having trouble devolved several times into off topics, but I'm pretty sure old versions worked on the Wii U but the newer versi...

And don't you get tired of spread false information regarding Nintendo?

While the Wii U is not as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox 1, it was the third party devs in the first year or two of the console's life that shot themselves in the foot with the playerbase. They delayed a finished game to release with the other two versions. They purposely delayed a release well beyond the release of the other two versions, and still charged full price. They left out game modes, p...

While I agree with many of your points, there are some I question.

The lack of third party games is an issue with the Wii U, but I would say it was more an issue with third party developers ruining their reputation on the Wii U with their policies. They delayed Rayman Legends so it would release on three consoles at once. They purposely removed modes/maps/dlc from ports that were months late. Ubisoft even went so far as to insult every Wii U owner by saying we only want &#...

Same old arguments as always Superchiller.

It was not poorly designed. It was designed to do exactly what it does. It may not do what you WANT it to do, but that does not indicate poor design.

Gimmicky is completely subjective. For myself, I love the gamepad.

While I cannot quibble with it being underpowered compared to the other two, you link that with being unable to deliver a solid gaming experience. Considering there are many games th...

You are taking statements made by Nintendo concerning launch mistakes and why sales were not as high as expected and extrapolating them mean that the Wii U was a failure. You are incorrect in that reasoning.

So, no need for someone to 'get over themselves' just to make you feel better. Not when your logic behind such a move lies on such spurious foundations.

If you consider that paragraph a 'wall of text', then I have to wonder what you consider readable. Twitter and Imgur comments sound right up your alley, what with their 140 character limit.

Or maybe it was just an excuse to not respond to what was conveyed and instead critique how it was written, in a rather crude and expansive manner.

My own opinion on the matter, is that the power of the system really does not matter. So long as the games it plays...

There is no way you can own a Wii U and say there is no difference between the Wii U and the Wii.

Heck, in power alone the Wii was easily outclassed by the PS3 and the Xbox 360, yet the Wii U outclasses them.

Hd output? Off TV play? External Hard-drive? Pro Controller? Sure, you can PLAY Wii games on the Wii U, so maybe you can be excused for mistaking a Wii U for a Wii.

Lets be honest. The only things separating one gen from another i...

An hour long event, out of several days worth of content, was all the confirmation you needed they are abandoning the Wii U? Unless you were looking for an excuse, I call BS.

We still know nothing about the NX, yet people still bandy about "its the replacement for the Wii U" as if it were a fact. It could be. No one but Nintendo knows. So stop using it as one more hammer to bash the Wii U with please.

I wouldn't knock the tablet controller until you give it a try. Despite its looks it handles well. Since you clearly haven't tried it, well...

And I'll buy a PS4 when I can get it for $200 with a tablet controller and $30 games. Putting unrealistic requirements on a purchase is just another way of saying 'never'.

An argument based on the assumption that the NX will be a replacement for the Wii U contrary to what was announced as well as telling all customers to ignore every Wii U game that comes out for the next two years not matter what.

Yea, not really lining up with reality here. Sounds like personal bias/spreading rumors as truth to me.

More like the poor reception of the hour-long E3 presentation caused the N4G trolls to scent blood in the water and start a feeding frenzy. Now they are just feeding off one another in a self-sustaining reaction, occasionally boosted into overdrive with every half-baked rumor that is thought up.

Simple. The games are good. If you own the console and like the games, the sales of the console don't really matter to you. The fact that you enjoy the games and the system do. The fact that it took a console 2.5 years to sell 10 mil doesn't even register.

As for droughts, I personally have more than enough to play on my Wii U to fill in for the periods of no releases.

Every one of the things you bring up are things, from my point of view, nintendo has done or is in the process of doing.

Banking it all on a 'gimmick'? You do seem to love that word, as it crops up in every post you make bashing the Wii U. I guess everything to you that is not a standard controller is a gimmick. How bout those VR headsets that are coming out soon? The Kinect? Playstation move, I believe it was called? What about the off-tv play both the PS4 and ...

As happy as I am to see a Rumor actually labeled as such in the title, the amount of people commenting as if it were fact is extremely disheartening.

@kaizokuspy

And yet if Nintendo made Amiibo required for some game, the masses would rise up and cry foul against actual physical DLC (they do this even now... smh...). You can't have it both ways: either Amiibos are nice collectables that unlock unnecessary extras in many games, or they become vital to one's success in playing a game and you MUST buy them.

And your comment about game consoles being game consoles? What makes the Wii U not a game con...
