There was an article from this Summer that explained why the games trickle in for the Virtual console:

The main issues being: Recoding the game to work on the newer consoles, being limited by intellectual property rights, and both tying up attention/manpower that would...
Well, this article was insulting. Never have I had my own preference in video games compared with a gambler's addiction and betting on a dark horse only to be let down time and time again.
There is no betting. It is not a gamble. No buyer's remorse or shame. I buy the console I know has the games I want to play. I enjoy the hell out of them.
Concerning the brand... I have always thought the Wii brand received far too much hate than it deserved. ...
They have not even announced the form the NX will take and you are already jumping to the 'gimmick' conclusion.
I always felt the Wii name got more flak than it really deserved. It isn't a horrible name, no more than its competitors, just an easy thing for detractors to latch onto to ridicule the entire console.
Well, games seem to have adopted the "hype-hype-hype-release-p atch-patch-patch-bargain bin" system of game releases.
I'd be tired too when big name game after big name game is hyped up to the stratosphere only for it to be brought down to earth by bugs and day-one patches.
And then there are the 'yearly installment' games...
So, consistent delays that pretty much every company does and Nintendo has done for years... fewer games because they are the only ones supporting the console... and lack of third party games when third party developers are the ones that pulled support for the console after year 1... those three combine for you to think of nintendo does not bring their A game and as the the very definition of the word 'Flake'.
Bull.
I'd like to see if Sony or Micr...
I would argue that going from the Wii name to the Wii U name was no more ridiculous than going from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. And saying it is no more ridiculous than any other console name when taken in isolation (have you ever stopped to think about how most words are like that?) My own opinion holds that it was advertising that failed to differentiate between the two consoles better. And, to be honest, electronics shop employees who should have known better.
As for support,...
Honesty has nothing to do with this. The most biased opinion in the world is 'honest'.
It's more just about everything concerning the Wii U is spun in articles such as these and put in a bad light. Such as this one. "Hey look! Wii U is getting LoZ TP in HD now! Well, here's why its too late for that and how it should have been HD to begin with."
And when there isn't enough new stuff to spin, old news is dredged up and repost...
@ Superchiller.
And here I thought you had me on ignore or something, considering this is the first direct reply to my comments.
Figures its an off-hand remark concerning not reading your own that garners the attention and not the thought-out counters to your own obviously biased views.
I do not defend Nintendo's mistakes. However, I do feel that certain people, such as yourself, refuse to see any good in the console and propagate the sa...
I cannot argue against your view on the games. Either you like them or you do not. I suspect, based on your rather blasé reasons for disliking one game or another, that you have not played the games you seem to dislike, but that is not the point. You don't like them and do not see their existence as a reason to own a Wii U. Personally, I greatly enjoy playing many of the games you have written off. Though I do agree with you in regards to the two Sonic games.
Yo...
Did not read, but its Superchiller so it garners an instant disagree.
And here we have yet another Superchiller comment, degrading a console that he would never like even if it were half the cost of a PS4 and had twice the power of a $2000 gaming pc.
Simply because it has a 'gimmick'.
Well, you've seen one comment you've seen them all. You may now safely skip over all future comments made by this internet persona as they all have the same content.
Wait, what?
He states rather plainly that he owns a Gaming Pc and a Wii U. Why are you writing your reply as if he only owns a Wii U? By having a PC and a Wii U, the only games he is missing out on are PS4 and XBox One Exclusive.
Also, you cannot simply brush off an argument simply because you view it as 'old' and 'lame'.
In the future, please actually READ the comment you are replying to.
@MaxkingoftheWild
I'll sum up the article for you.
His premise is that while Nintendo is not winning the sales game of this generation, they are winning the long-term game by increasing, as a percentage of install-base, the ownership of core and new Nintendo franchises in comparison to the games, first and third-party alike, released on the PS4 and XBoxOne (/runonsentence).
Basically, he is looking at game sales for each console from th...
Why not own up to the fact that nothing Nintendo does will ever satisfy you? All they are to you is a collection of 'gimmicks' you feel degrade gaming as a whole. A collection of 'gimmicks', I might add, that resonate with over 10 million who have bought the system.
As for Amiibos, it seems you are in the 'they don't do enough' camp (the other camp is 'they do too much'). You also seem to ignore that amiibos are not just meant for one ga...
Still up at gamestop as of 1:48 :

Well from the sound of it you wouldn't play Nintendo first-party offerings anyway unless they make their franchises 'realistic'. And you wouldn't play any third parties on the system because those companies have a history of half-assed ports and shovel ware for the past two generations.
So tell me, why your view on what Nintendo's console should be or do have any weight when it can be inferred from your own statements you will not buy the system or play t...
First Fatal Frame for me. Haven't been able to play much due to time restrictions, but have thoroughly enjoyed the 4 chapters I've played. Even replaying levels, knowing what is coming, is nerve-wracking.
My opinion is that this game does not deserve the vitriol it has been getting in the reviews and comments of late. Of the 6 negative player reviews on Metacritic, 5 are 0/10 (I'm sorry but no game is a zero unless it is an unplayable mess of glitches, pixelati...
Don't you ever get tired of hating on them? Seriously, I have yet to see you say a single positive thing concerning the Wii U.
No system is without positives or negatives. Considering a system a 100% total failure (as you do, as per your comments, with the Wii U) is tantamount to being biased in your opinion.
As for the topic on hand, there are plenty of reasons for not listing the release date. My own opinion is they do not want to announce a date onl...
On the plus side, all this hypothesizing and discussion keeps the NX in the forefront of many people's minds (no way will it repeat the "what's the difference between a Wii and a Wii U?" fiasco) and in the news (well, online news anyway).
On the negative side: People holding off supporting the Wii U due to rumors of a 2016 release or backwards compatibility. Also, with all the theorizing going on, people will develop an idealized version of the NX in thei...
