Well look at the PS4 and the whole "no games" meme flying around, I imagine most of their studios have their hands tied, though I doubt Sony would invest too much into Vita anyways since Mobile is just too much to handle, not even 3DS is doing great (good numbers, but not great like the DS was) despite having tons of software on it and being fairly cheap.

I think the author is trying to say the value proposition is better compared to say, the original Xbone+Kinect "bundle" for $499.
A PS4+TV for $499 means Sony would also compete with that bundle and offer "a better deal" in a sense, as well as compete with the non kinect version with the original standalone Ps4. For this game in particular, and in the current situation, not a chance. Ps4 hasn't even hit a million consoles sold in Japan yet. Most Japanese have moved exclusively to mobile now for gaming.
I'd "be surprised" if Destiny scraped 500k for Ps4+Ps3 combined in Japan.
Glad to see WiiU doing better, hopefully the great E3 they had can maintain decent sales until Smash hits. It's a shame that E3 2014 Nintendo came this late, Wii U might have been in a different position had it had this presence Nintendo gave at 2014 E3, at launch.

Late next year at the least, probably will dip into 2016. Sony have said the tech is finished, all they need is convincing games to form a catalog to release the hardware with.
It's more of a "VR isn't ready for the mass market yet" sort of thing, which is true. I'm sure the tech is fine, but the games, experiences, availability, and form factor are not quiet there yet. Give it another 5 years and it'll be ready to go big.

Um, the PS2 begs to differ buddy. You also can't rely on exclusives alone, Nintendo being huge evidence of this with how terrible the Wii U has been. You have to have a mix, and while, THIS YEAR, Sony doesn't have that, NEXT year you can bet your butt that they will. That's strictly speaking AAA or high quality titles, PS4 has way more indies available atm then xbox.

Sony's planning was smart. Release LBP3 for the kids this holiday season, Driveclub for racing/visual fans, meanwhile all the big boys get the play the best console versions of major 3rd party games like Battlefield, COD, GTA remastered, etc to hold them until the amazing year 2015 is looking to be. Sony did enough to keep their momentum, and will surely speed up sales compared to the last 2-3 months.
Micro did good too with Sunset, FH2, and Halo master for the holidays, ...
Yah right, just more excuses to delay the title from releasing. By the end of this year, both consoles will have sold over 15-20 million combined, that's a good enough install base for any multiplatform game to massively succeed. Look at Watchdogs! Over 4 million copies sold and Ubi's fastest selling game!

It's a good option for those who are interested in both but have yet to buy either. You don't have to be a "fanboy" just to want it. The same option is given with the XBO+Kinect and the one without, except the difference is a camera.

No more hilarious then Oddworld Stranger's Wrath HD that got released for Ps3. Cel damage at least got released on cube and ps2 down the line, so a HD remake should not be hilarious...
I for one am excited as I enjoyed the game on the Gamecube. Online multiplayer component could be a blast, especially if you can also play online and local co-op at the same time.
I wouldn't mind a monthly fee if it didn't seem as steep as $12.99 a month + the $30-40 buy in. That's just ridiculous and straight up saying "We don't want your money!". That's $105 in 6 months (not expensive for seemingly 100's of hours of gameplay, however it's not gonna translate well to younger audiences or those in financial problems)

Was about to say this. Sony needs to crack Nintendo's turf with PS4, since while the WiiU had a head start on the other consoles, it's still not too far behind the Ps4 in sales, and can catch up during the holidays especially since Ps4 doesn't really have too much exclusives these next 5 months or so.
Xbox in japan will be lucky to even match Sony's number there.
