And a few months ago, they might not have considered video capture. That feature alone is more than enough reason to add the extra ram.
Well... not exactly.
There is a the OS to consider, but then there is also the fact that the PS4 will be capable of recording video while you play.
If you have any experience with video capture/encoding, you should know that is extremely CPU/RAM intensive, in fact I'd go out on a limb and guess that at least 1gb of ram goes to the os, and at least 3gb is devoted to video capture.
That said, 4gb is a huge amount of memory to have left over. I like ...

Because yes it looks good, but Crysis 3 on PC ultra settings is still better. Though, you'll need a graphics card that's around $300 to run it.
For the reasons of that high cost of entry, consoles can never be on par with PC. Consoles are supposed to be cheap/convenient alternatives.
That's not in any way a bad thing. In fact it's quite the opposite. But don't try to tell yours...

Wii U might not be a directx 11 chip, however AMD cards have supported directx 11 features natively since the directx 10 cards. That said, it supports everything that "directx 11" cards support. I put that in quotations because DirectX is a Microsoft thing, in fact the full original name of the Xbox was the DirectXbox. It's a pretty creative name I think.
Also... it's been confirmed to run on Wii U already.

They were running a custom setup by combining 4 PS3s and running them all together.
Patch a practically new game and we'll call it squarezees.
I for one wasn't disappointed with the specs. Though it could have used a little more ram.
That said, can't wait to see what else Nintendo brings to the table software wise!
Shh! They're not supposed to know that PCs always have and always will trump consoles, and their collective "wonder" at "next gen" graphics is a little funny for PC gamers.
Console gamers should really stop complaining about graphics because console gamers talking big about specs always makes me laugh a little considering. Consoles are about simplicity. So console gamers should really stop comparing specs between consoles and just play their games. <...
I don't really care. It looks damn good and PS4 isn't that big of a leap over PS3 as PS3 was over PS2. That said... The water is sporting some serious tessellation and there's some great HDR lighting. Which is "next gen" enough for me.

I hope they stick with standard 2.5 drives so I can just buy a cheaper model and then get my own hdd or ssd and rock that.

It really won't I imagine that the bulk of the power difference between Wii U and PS4 has to do with the PS4s social networking/streaming/video recording ability. ...which is really freaking cool by the way!
That doesn't make sense. The 360 had a better gpu in in than the PS3.

I'm also really hoping for a Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword HD rerelease. Any excuse to play them again. Well... anything Zelda... As you can probably tell from my avatar. Though I might consider myself a PC gamer first... Zelda has been and always will be my favorite franchise of all time.
Personally, I can't wait to see what Microsoft comes up with. Seems everyone has learned the lesson from Nintendo that innovation is more important that just beefier specs(though beefier specs are really nice too XD).
We have the Wii U, and the PS4 coming... up next is Microsoft and I can't wait to see what they will be bringing to the table!

Console gamers should not even be allowed to talk about specs since they are so uneducated about them. Consoles have awesome exclusives, and even without great specs they still manage to do some cool things. But they just shut up and play, as they just appear very foolish talking about things they don't even understand. And even more foolish for boasting about laptop specs.
