The first one was a really poor game in my opinion. I went through it for the story and the characters (despite what the reviews said at the time, I thought Kane and Lynch were good protagonists), but the controls were loose, the game barely looked better than the cross generation Hitman Blood Money, it had quite a few moments that felt cheap gameplay-wise and the multiplayer was dead on arrival.

The second one on the other hand, felt like a much more polished game. The story...

Seems unlikely, CD Projekt RED is a division of CD Projekt, the people behind GOG.com. They've been advocates of DRM-free games and software for as long as I can remember, while EA have been the polar opposite. EA has always tried and to this day continues to try to fight piracy using whatever is seen as the most effective and usually invasive form of DRM available to them. While one company has been on the forefront of DRM-free software, the other one was the main instigator behind said ...

The lack of innovation is a good thing in my opinion. Not every game needs to innovate. We've sadly lost quite a few good rts franchises because of a pointless quest by developers to innovate for the sake of innovating. Command and Conquer lost sight of the basics for example.

I wonder why there's such a major discrepancy between the western reviews like this one and the Famitsu ones. I'm not saying one was biased or wrong, and having not played the game myself I can't say which ones I agree with; but they are very different opinions of the same game.

I can't see this game selling very well, and it might be hard for Itagaki and Valhalla game studio to find financing for another game after this one.

I don't think everyone is ready, but many are. Take PC for example, many probably can't remember the last time they actually used a disc to install a game. And on the current consoles, digital sales are going up as well. It probably is too soon to go digital only, as many still prefer having a physical copy or simply don't have the internet connection required (speed and bandwidth), but with each passing year, I think a digital only future is becoming closer to being a reality. Pr...

Most freemium games also offer optional microtransactions. They usually give you the option to pay for some tokens or whatever the in-game currency is, or to wait a long time/grind it forever, depending on the type of game it is. Technically, no freemium game forces you to shell out some cash, but they make it so frustrating to play without paying that at the end of the day, some people will pay, others will move on to another game. It sucks when it happens, but at least you didn't have t...

This isn't the trainwreck we were promised a few weeks ago when NoA was supposedly against publishing it.

Guess we won't get to see who's better at re-imagining this classic.

Sadly, it really doesn't matter whether or not the PC version ends up being the best they've done or not.

I love playing CoD on PC, it looks better, and I'm more comfortable playing with a mouse and keyboard. But the last CoD game to have a good online community (in size and longevity) was Modern Warfare 2. I've bought Black Ops on PC, but had to buy the PS3 version after a while since very few people were still playing on PC after a relatively short while. Sa...

Developers should never aim for parity, doing so only hurts the industry and gamers on all sides. All platforms have their own pros and cons, and owners of these platforms should expect developers to use the available features as much as possible.

Power aside, would Wii-U owners be happy if a multiplatform game didn't use the Gamepad since other platforms don't have it? Of course not. PS4 owners shouldn't have their games be downgraded because the Xbox One has a ...

I'd say it is worth it, at least for a lot of people it is. I think that one thing that the Xbox One has going for it this year is the amount of older games you get to play at a very reasonable price.

Halo:MCC, despite all the server issues, is still providing a lot of hours with the campaigns alone. Rare Replay is 30 games for $30, which is a great deal even if you only play a dozen of them. Gears UE coming with all the X360 Gears game, for $40, is also quite a steal for...

By having her live, they'd be removing one of the most important event in the whole game. It'd be a very dumb decision that would greatly damage the story and its antagonist.

I watched the eSport event they had today, and wasn't a big fan of what I saw. It's not that it's a bad game by any mean, but personally, I would love to at least have one CoD title go back to what made CoD4:MW so good. Fast paced multiplayer, but without all the added gimmicks and the overly futuristic weaponry.

Of course, it's all a matter of personal preferences. Some wish the series would go back to WWII, others love it the way it is right now. For me, Cal...

Still the biggest subscription based MMO, still highly profitable and highly likely to get a couple million subs back for a few months once the next expansion comes out. WoW is dying a slow death, but going F2P right now would do little but slash revenues prematurely.

I bought my first PS3 at launch and had access to the PS2 library. It was pretty amazing for me since I didn't have a PS2 and the PS3's first year was rather rough. It allowed me to discover games like FFX and Kingdom Hearts, and it definitely gave more value to my PS3.

I think the same would apply to the PS4 for many people. And, I really like how Xbox is using BC as a bonus for new games. Giving away every Gears of War games to those buying Gears Ultimate Edition is...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they confirmed a few days/weeks ago that you could swap the code for the digital copy for a retail disc. I don't know if it's worldwide or only select territories though.

Konami is probably looking to fold its entire non-mobile game development division. My guess is that the servers will be kept online for as long as there's a sizable online community. Balance and bugs patches shouldn't be an issue, but I'm more worried about content patches. Either there will be none after a very short time, or worse, they'll sell them piece by piece like DLCs in a freemium game.

Hopefully I'm wrong, as I hope MGO3 gets a long life, but at...

Considering they're putting a year in the domain name, I think it might have something to do with e-sport or at least some kind of competitive event.

Despite all the flak Blizzard had their way over the last few years, one thing we can't complain about is post-launch support. They've always made sure to support their games for quite a while.

It's most certainly an impressive number considering the install base. At the rate it is selling, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few months it meant 1 out of 5 Wii-U owners had the game. I hope this shows Nintendo that Splatoon has the potential to be a big franchise and it won't be a one off. And I also hope it shows them that new franchises can be as viable and profitable as their classic ones.
