It not next gen but it is a lesson to sony in how mid gen refreshes should go. Next gen comes with a much bigger cpu upgrade

truth of the matter, if you spent $1000-1500 on a rig, over 5 years and at least 50 games later, the pc will have cost you less and youll have got more bang for you buck

I went that way during last gen, 360/ps3, soon sorted that out though when a £99 gtx750ti laid waste to both current gen consoles
all 5 of them? Ask yourself this, would you buy a $350 (plus online subs) pc component to play 5 games?
you don't have to build it yourself you know. plus its not really rocket science. most shops will advise on what cpu fits what board and you can buy bundles with board chip and ram.
That said, if your not a techie, maybe its worth just keeping it simple like you say

True. Steam hardware report says 1060 is the top card, which is approx. the same as last gen 980.
A 1060 beats a Pro, as a Pro is roughly equivalent to a 970, which is the 2nd most popular card.
X1X is 1070/980ti levels
So in the UK, your looking at a £250 980ti off ebay, or a new 1070 for £350ish
