It’s Epic games

The partner is Epic games

@AnubisG the PS4 has sold 110m consoles. The best Sony exclusives have sold around 20m and there is maybe a few dozen exclusive games on PS4. All the thousands of other games on there that people play, nearly all of them are on PC. People are still buying PS4s, so sorry buddy but your assumption is completely false. A handful of Sony made games is not going to get people to not want a console anymore.

@Godmars290 metal gear solid was 4 years after PS1s launch. Resident Evil was 1 year after. They weren’t launch games.

And PC games scale, so your whole argument that games one series x won’t take advantage of the system is tired and incorrect

@VenomUK I don’t think most people actually know what teraflops do. They are talking to and for the general consumer

Now I’m not sure but how would that server farm handle say 20 million people playing? You say maybe 10,000 10.7 teraflop machines but how far do they scale that? Could googles server farm handle 100m people playing games at 4K?

Google have created 2 game studios with pretty decent teams behind them. Will be years before we see anything though, if ever

It’s only just starting to spread in western countries among people who haven’t been overseas. I think it will get a bit worse before it dies down. And reported cases may be a bit skewed in the US because from what I hear some states won’t allow you to get a test for covid19 unless you have been overseas even if you are showing all the symptoms. Plus the high cost of those tests for people that have no or poor insurance

I suspect it will have a small loyal fan base. I don’t think they are investing to much into it and likely have low expectations, over time they may make a little off it

They don’t really care too much about sales, especially for this game. As long as they have a steady fan base paying for DLC/battlepasses or whatever that’s all they care about.

And there is probably a dozen or more other new IP Sony made this Gen. so it’s not like Sony isn’t making them

@shaggy2303 no it’s not that’s why I said 4. But Spider-Man also isn’t a sequel to any of the previous ones and it’s a first for Sony 1st party.

What’s the question?

2176d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

4 of these 9 were new IPs (5 if you count Spider-Man) and that’s still not good enough huh? They just have to perpetually make new IPs regardless of how much the fans want sequels?

Plenty of people want cloud gaming (that works) as an alternative option. If MS makes it a free/cheap option to play your existing library when you are away from your console then why not

Both consoles are backwards compatible so this is a non issue

"What is not very clear or visible is because we are competing in the space, so it’s very difficult to discuss anything about the price at this point of time, and depending upon the price level, we may have to determine the promotion that we are going to deploy and how much costs we are prepared to pay."

He directly mentions they will be competing on price. So it wasn’t the writers assumption

A large portion of every generation are adults. Any kids that grew up playing NES or SNES were adults then the PS3 came out

If Sony is going to deliver on transitioning to the next Gen at a pace never delivered as they say they need to hit a $399 US price or lower. $499 wouldn’t inspire a fast transition I don’t think. The PS4 is still selling really well. Xbox has an opportunity here to really undercut Sony on price if they time it right

I dunno, PS4 was revealed as $399US (Coveting to $599ish) and was $549AU retail.
Currently PS4 Pro retails for $399US at the moment too and it’s $519AU. Those US prices don’t include sales taxes either, where Australia does. If the US price is announced as $499 I would guess $650 - $700. Might be a tough sell in Australia for a bit
