Halo as a franchise is a juggernaut in the industry. The franchise singlehandedly saved the XBox platform. If Halo: CE wasn't a success, Microsoft would be out of the console business. Instead, they're neck and neck this generation with Sony.
All the map packs have been really good. I don't think people ever really had problems with the quality of maps. It's always been the price of the map packs!
To be quite honest, I think the beta has taken the wind out of Uncharted 3's sail a bit. People's expectations of betas are too high. They expect the same polish of a finished game which is just crazy. A beta's goal is to identify these issues now and fix them but gamers today are so spoiled they complain at the slightest thing.
COD needs to run at 60 fps. It's arena combat with fast paced action. Control input needs to be responsive to give players the best chance to compete. Battlefield is very team and strategy oriented which is why 30 fps works. Halo Reach runs at 30 fps and uses reticule bloom to compensate for the controller input lag which makes the game a bit more fluid.
That said, Frostbite 2.0 isn't a new engine. It's just the evolution of the Frostbite engine. DICE didn't ...
Why would Microsoft make XBox Live free when consumers have shown a readiness to pay for the service and gold subscriptions increase annually? How is that good business?! Really, where is the common sense in making XBL free?
I think bundles are great but sometimes I don't understand the logic behind them. Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 will be great games but for the most part, those with real interest in either game more than likely already have a PS3. It's just a weird dynamic I've always wondered about since you never get solid figures of bundle sales. Is it really worth it?
I was so excited when I saw the Halo 4 trailer. When I downloaded it on XBox Live I just kept replaying it. I love Halo. Don't really pay attention to the detractors anymore.
Gotta love Peter's enthusiasm. Even after all these years and games' journalist and gamers turning on him for his overzealousness, he's still so enthusiastic about the gaming creation process.
Can't believe I watched the whole video hoping he had a credible source. Seriously, WTF man!?!
Finally some news. This game seemed to disappear of the face of the earth after it was announced.
I would agree but for some reason I've gone back to playing Halo 3. Reach is more polished, has a better campaign, better balanced multiplayer but I love Halo 3. Can't wait for the Anniversary edition of CE though.
Thanks for the breakdown.
The first Resistance had a great story and great pacing. The second, they went a bit set piece heavy. I hope the third is a more rounded affair.
Well Braid and Castle Crashers eventually came to the PS3 so why is it surprising? It's surprising to me that people still make a huge issue when something like this happens.
There are so many editorials about why Call of Duty is this or that and it seems like it's the cool thing to do, jump on the negativity bandwagon against a popular if admittedly, regurgitated franchise. You know what? No one really gives a fuck! We heard all the same things after Modern Warfare 2 and millions still ran out and bought Black Ops. Listen, face it, people love Call of Duty and they're not sheep. The game has a formula of instant gratification that appeals to many gamers. ...
I really wanna see direct feed footage of console gameplay. Seriously, after the PS3 footage fiasco, I thought DICE would have atleast released direct feed footage of the gameplay to the media.
Loved Halo Reach but I still play Halo 3. The formula is just great but honestly, I enjoy the world of Halo. The Halo lore is pretty deep.
Yeah but you know there'll inevitably be a GOTY Edition with all the DLC. That's the kind of bullshit you have to deal with. I'm finding that if you buy a game at launch you usually get screwed. Shit like that pisses people off.
And you know what?! The majority of fans don't give a shit that the formula hasn't changed since Modern Warfare. The set pieces, controls, and multiplayer is what makes Call of Duty successful and you know what, the majority just want more of the same. New guns, new maps, same great experience. Modern Warfare 2 surpassed Modern Warfare, Black Ops surpassed Modern Warfare 2. If that isn't evidence that the game's popularity is growing despite what the "interwebs" woul...
It's not. It looks goofy. Almost like a big gimmick. I thought Ninja Gaiden 2 looked goofy but this is some crap!
