must admit, even though i never played the first one, i'm pretty excited about this game. i think it's cuz the trailer is just so darn cute.
i said alan wake would probably get there over time, not right off the jump.
splinter cell was a huge franchise last gen, but their only title this gen before conviction was double agent which hurt the name a bit. conviction is a great game but probably doesn't get a lot of word of mouth (though i convinced 2 non sc fans to buy it), and there wasn't a lot of hype surrounding it until right before launch.

sales are gonna be pretty huge this month starting this tuesday. rdr will probably sell a couple million. i expect alan wake will probably break 1 mil (although it could end up being a sleeper hit which means it'll take it a li'l while to build up momentum). mod nation will probably do 300-400k (they shoulda made it 39.99 and then i bet it would do over a mil). and mario will probably sell about a billion copies

watch the bright falls mini series. it's nuts. it convinced me that the game is worth is for the atmosphere alone.
two things:
first, bungie already said they aren't doin anymore halos, so some of you may get your wish.
second, i own both consoles and can honestly say that there is no other competitive online shooter (on console) that matches halo's balance and fun factor. when another franchise topples it, i'll happily move on. til then, halo it is.
it may not 'reach' it's former level of innovation, but that's irrelevant....

is one of those games where regardless of review scores, you probably already know if you are going to buy it or not There are about 10-15 franchises where that's the case, and splinter cell is definitely one of them.
This really is old. I don't think MS has any interest in Halo doing anything like Killzone. Halo breaks records and sets standards. Killzone is a piece of crap shooter that looks nice. and, it really only looks nice if you choose to ignore everything other than lighting and depth of field.
Killzone 2 is the only game i've purchased this generation that i've traded for something else. Contrarily, Halo still has more people playing it at any given time online than people have ...

it's because ppl that shell out 60 dollars for games go through a strange psychological process to help justify their purchase. they actually convince themselves these really average games are better than they really are. I've played every COD and i've never been able to understand the appeal. The people who don't pay for them probably play em, enjoy them somewhat, get the experience out of it, then move on. i'm not saying cod is bad...just that it's nothing close to what ppl claim it is....
