The remaster for SOTC did not mess with the gameplay and overall design it just gave it a coat of paint. It did not disrespect the original game.
FF7 Remake, on the other hand, decides to completely change the gameplay, design, and story. The Shinra location is nothing but a snippet in the original game is being remade as a whole episode.
Square Enix are toying with people's nostalgia and they are about to cash in on it with multiple episodes.
Ep1- ...
Not spending another 200+hrs. They should have released it as dlc so previous players could continue their progress
It's clear that you don't have an idea what Dark soul's Influence is.
It's created a seamless interconnected design. From the firelink shrine to many different paths the choice was for the player to take. All of that linked perfectly with the world building tools which were the texts that accompanied the equipments meticulously placed in the world. Along with an array of inventive enemy designs and spectacular boss fights it swipes the floor with Demon souls.
Pretty sure everyone would have liked a simple remaster(ala Shadow of the colossus remaster) rather than a full remake. Fact is FF7 remake has a chance to backfire, the battle system, expanded story, and episodic releases. What could have been a sure bet by Square Enix may turn against them and tarnish the FF name for a long time.
Man, no one asked them to overcomplicate the game with rubbish things like this. We want the next FF to have those things, not FF7. All FF7 needed was a new coat of paint and SOME refinements to gameplay...thats it. The game could have been out years ago and the new FF would be on the way.
Requote your quote to yourself
"Nice one for supporting a fantastic Xbox exclusive.
Or was that just a terrible attempt at trolling backfiring?"
-Dark Souls
Definitely one of the most influential games of all time
I would put
-Mass effect 2
-The Witcher 3
-Skyrim
-Red Dead Redemption 2
-Doom
Bad example....movies like that are paced well with the writing. And with a game, it supposes to go hand in hand with the gameplay and design. Death Stranding seems to be exempt from that critic. Kojima's games feel like they are more movie than games and in Death Stranding, Kojima tries to practice what he preaches into the gameplay but, unfortunately, he missed the mark because of the lack of variety and fun.

"It's not perfect, nothing is, but Death Stranding will be forever spoken and remembered for what it is - a Hideo Kojima game"
But it got a perfect score. The words are not reflecting the score
Plus the amount of times Kojima's name was mentioned in this review is staggering.
There is absolutely nothing defining about dragon age XI. It was a good game but didn't do anything new or substantial for the genre....as well as most of the games on this list.
Souls gameplay is risk vs reward and is fun because of that. Death stranding very well knows what it is and it's making the player go through mundane tasks(Severe lack of variety). The overall consensus is the same the game isn't fun and the pacing is bad. Scores should reflect that and most of the scores clearly aren't.
If it stumbles here and there then that fine but the gameplay and design are fundamentally based the mundane. and it doesn't shy away from that.
There was once a time where every sentence from blizzard staff was met with great enthusiasm and excitement now everything tapered down with the Blizzard attitude this gen. The game is not at fault but the people in charge of it are.
Act 3 was slow, not bad, let's see if this is tolerated in Death Stranding. It was meant for world-building as it was really effective at that. Typically when a moment with before the story hits you with something big its suppose to be slow. It is called a rising action and act 3 was that....if people got bored of that then boy you better prepare yourself for Death Stranding.
Oh god....Aaron Greenberg always finds a way to kill hype
The remaster for SOTC was spot on with no compromise to gameplay, design, and story unlike the FF7 remake. Whatever bluepoint remakes is welcomed.
"Reviews are saying there is nothing else out there like Death Stranding, which makes it new."
By that comment you quote is wasn't about the game but it was about the way it was shown. The way people were saying to wait and see, Kojima is the master of disguise, he is hiding something in the game but unfortunately the game he showed was exactly what we got.
"You're talking as if the reviews are mostly negative instead of overwhelmin...
Ben Moore's reviews are on point. One of best video game reviewers out there.
There are quite a number of inconsistencies with Death Stranding and this review points it out. It says Death Stranding practices what it preaches but the mundane gameplay involve mundane things which the player doesn't find fun ala a fetch quest. This completely throws off the pacing which is fundamental in a game that is trying to tell a story.

If Disney has any sense they would find another publisher after EA 's licence is over.
