You need to get your eyes checked, and upgrade that screen to 4k first. Make sure you are seated too before it blows your socks off.
If it doesn't, you should stick to casual gaming.
It is a game which was better rated than it's previous entry, and is the highest rated racing game this generation on consoles.
I remember a time when people didn't even believe the Xbox One X, back then known as Scorpio could do native 4k. Today we got tons of games stated directly by the developer that it is native 4k. Forza 7 is native 4k with 60fps to boot.
Xbox One X is truly a beast and there is no power great than the X.
I think Sparse Rendering with dynamic component, then juice it with 4k textures and drive up the frame rate and support VRR (basically freesync) is the optimum experience. You will get the best console experience and when the Xbox One X aka Monster gets upgraded, the game will play even better on that.
Most played games are old. Overwatch is a year old game, and GTA IV is a last generation game ported over. It is in the top 10 played every month on both PS4 and Xbox.
Love the fact that I can play Red Dead Redemption better than on the Xbox 360 which was the best version at the time, and now it plays better before RDR2 drops, which likely continues the trend of best version on Xbox One X. Lots of great older games. I would rather play Mass Effect trilogy, than the new Mas...
People play old games all the time. In fact, the most played games are typically old games. Don't know what you are talking about. Overwatch is over a year old, GTA is several year old game ported from last gen. Yet they rank in the top of most played every month.

The reason games that are already available on Xbox One still gets BC for the Xbox 360 version is because people still own those games and don't have to rebuy them. It is basically MS charity to you!
You just need to recognize that, cherish it, and enjoy it. It is not a negative, but a major positive.
I'm doing the same thing, just the opposite. Get to enjoy Nioh soon, and been enjoying Nier on PC. PC is just not concerned about exclusivity, which is really nice. They just pretty much get everything, and has the most exclusives too.

There is Forza 7 with 92% metacritic, and there is State of Decay 2 coming next year. Don't forget Halo, Gears and so on as well.
Sorry, but GT Sports VR focus has hampered it and it shows. I'm looking forward to the reviews though.

That is not a loss, because any Xbox owner now gets a PC copy if they want it. There is good connection between PC and Xbox.
Them PS4 exclusives are now no longer exclusives That is a joy to me, because I love to be able to play them on PC. Now make them come to Xbox too!
