It's essentially a wallhack and it needs to go. There is not way this could or should be used. 2D spotting would be ok (shows up on map) but having little orange triangles running around telling you where the entire other team is (it's that bad sometimes) ridiculous.
As someone who was in the Alpha I can confirm that this was the number one problem. In the forums in battlelog there was a thread that had over 3000 posts about the 3d spotting problem.
Basically, you would spawn and then start spamming the horizon by pressing q repeatedly and if you could spot them (even if there was foliage blocking your line of sight of them) you could shoot them. There is a video out there of this (though I don't know if it's still up) which sho...
GTA4 is a great game because of the endless hours you can spend in it doing nothing productive. Its replayability is unrivaled.

Just because in COD you can hear everyones footsteps no matter where on the map they are if you have a good headset doesn't mean it's "better". In fact I would argue the opposite.
Also as someone in the Battlefield 3 Alpha I can tell you the sound (even in alpha) blows all COD games away.
Well, as someone who is in the alpha and playing BF3 right now I can tell you that (unfortunately) he's wrong. I wish it was still the hardcore game that we think of when we think of battlefield but this game holds your hand maybe even a little more than COD.
3d is so pointless
