Since MS went with the whole avatar thing, the dashboard on the 360 is basically a vertical XMB. Navigation of both 360 and ps3 are basically identical. But since mommy and daddy could only get you just one console, i understand your need to justify it when envy hits hard.

the short campaign turned me off a bit from purchasing it at retail when i could get a longer more fullfilling game like mass effect 2 or alan wake.
Epic game. The only criticism i can think of is the tedious planet scanning. Aside from that everything is pretty damn enjoyable.

heavenly sword was kickass. Even though the sixaxis is a after thought now in ps3 games. There was nothing more fun than using it to get kai to shoot arrows in peoples faces. Or using it to shoot canonballs at hundreds of on screen enemies. In fact i have yet to see another game that has that many enemies on screen with those graphics without a single hitch in framerate. I was a bit dissapointed with lack of variety of enemies in fallout 3 compared to the originals.
you read my mind. I would like to have some classic controller support. The nunchuk is quite akward to use and that waggle feature could be easily replaced by a button. There were times where i was playing SMG1 and thought to myself "this would be so much better with a traditional controller."
i thought SMG1 played great but a few hours in i noticed that waggle sucks. I could have enjoyed that title much more if nintendo would have offered a support feature with the classic controller. But then again that would probably defeat the purpose of the console. I mean i get the same effect waggling something than pushing a button. I still havent picked up SMG2. I just hope the controls are revised. I hate waggle.
I suggest trying out GUN as well. The narrative and extras(scalping, hunting, ability to use bow and arrows, etc) were pretty sweet. Gun was the game that showed me a western could be done on consoles.

XBL doesnt cost me dimes a day. NO it costs me 50 dollars at once! even if i buy the cards at amazon 35 dollars could be better put towards new games. buy a used 360 console. There are certain issues that would make me paranoid about buying a second hand 360 such as xbox live console banning, rrod issues (out of warranty, and some models scratch discs. People are more comfortable buying from a retailer that cant exactly go anywhere than some shady people off craigslist.
