Yes, too much work for a useless feature that wouldn't fit the gameplay, I agree with their decision.
I think a big factor will be whether you need to pay for online. If $15 includes online play then that's a big deal.

I can't think of any Xbox game, other than 2d ones, that I would enjoy playing on a damn touch screen. None of those games are created for touch controls, it's like playing Halo with a potato.
