Easy answer. The console with games that aren’t cancelled or used as marketing each year as “the greatest lineup” only to be delayed again.
One fanbase realized that graphics and exclusives matter and still do. The other said neither mattered THAT much and are now hypocritically changing the tune to graphics and exclusives as they realize they’ve been wrong the whole time while waiting for the 1X.
If you like a steady flow of game, as a consumer, you would not have gotten the Xbox One. Listing 4 or 5 games you like doesn't factually prove anything. It's your own opinion..

The 360 got spanked hard the majority of the time because they catered to 3 games and only 3. Call of Duty, Halo and Gears.
I’m glad Sony did their own thing and focused on bringing the industry out of the dark age with new technology that has become standard and help developers create even better games this gen.
As per Phil, Scorpio was thought of when the Xbox One was even launched at $500 with Kinect and all. So, that assumption of yours isn’t accurate.
Maybe they did announce all these games just to remind gamers what matters. Who knows. All we know is we’ll have new games and never find out the true reasoning to why now.

Old games vs. new games are totally different in terms of press time. MS will get it’s 5 min of fame with a digital foundry video on how great games from several years ago look now. In contrast, Sony will get months of hype with new AAA exclusive games like TLOU2, GOW, Detroit, SOTC, etc.

The focus on MP games has one downfall. The industry will canabalize itself with so many people flocking from game to game. Not to mention the ridiculous loot box stuff.
