This is an interesting topic. I can't see them buying just one Japanese studio, since they would be the odd duck in terms of the American corporate culture. If they make a move for Japanese development, I think they'll go big, and scoop up something like Sega or Capcom. It would be much better to buy a publisher that owns a number of studios, so that they can maintain the culture, and then they can just basically direct which platforms they want the games released on.
Microsoft is showing an extremely powerful feature set heading into next gen, with:
- backwards compatibility, going all the way back to original Xbox games
- giving us the ability to use our Xbox consoles as streaming servers to any device at no extra cost
- game streaming from Xcloud
- connectivity of Xbox Live across Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Two, PC, Android and iOS
- Xbox Game Pass on Xbox and PC
- 14 First Party game studios...
Xbox One X will be their entry level model for next gen, since it is already a 4K console afterall. They will probably ditch the Xbox One S soon after launch of the Xbox Two.
EA has been completely lost after releasing BF4 at the beginning of this generation. It's too bad, because last generation, they were one of my favorite publishers/developers.
There will always be consoles of some sort, even if they are similar to OnLive's streaming micro-console. Having a presence in the livingroom is key to being at the center of gaming.

Enough with the nonsense.
Its a game that shows what London has become after years of Sadiq Khan being Mayor of the city.
They will probably just port/remaster all of the remaining big PS3 1st and 2nd party games, to ensure they live on beyond the PS3. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Killzone Collection, Resistance Collection, Motorstorm Collection, God of War Collection, (including the PSP GoW games), Infamous Collection, Metal Gear Solid Collection with MGS4, and hopefully one day, a Socom Collection. If they bring these to PS4/PS5 like they did with GoW3, TLoU, and the Uncharted Collection, then they wil...
All of the major games I wanted as backwards compatible titles, came to be, at least for Xbox 360. For original Xbox, I wish they would have made Rainbow Six 3, Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and Ghost Recon 2 backwards compatible. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice.
The Halo part of the conference was alright, but the Gears 5 part was a real ket down. I mean, it's releasing in September, so wheres the gameplay?? It was the gameplay that got everyone excited for Gears 4.
I think they filled the auditorium with employees for this press conference. It was so ridiculous, that people were cheering like idiots for every little explosion during the Avengers reveal.
The 5700XT @ $449.00 USD is pretty good, especially considering it is 10-15% more powerful in running games, over the RTX 2070. The anti-lag and fidelity features are also a big win. I really want to build a new rig right now, but I have to wait for the announcement of their new high end graphics card, which isn't until next February more than likely. I will probably buy a Ryzen 3800x and a motherboard during Boxing Week after Christmas, and then wait for the next AMD GPU announcement aft...
Seeing the 'lead designer' with pink hair for Rainbow Six, really explains a lot about where the game has been going, without having to say much. This was Ubisofts worst press conference in years. Also, they sure aren't trying to push any political agendas regards Brexit /s It's funny how the U.K. leaving the EU after having a democratic vote, leads to a game about forming a resistance.
If people actually did their homework, they would realize that the EU is...
Sony hasn't released much regarding next gen, and so it only makes sense that Microsoft will save any large announcements, beyond the Xcloud streaming and the official announcement for Xbox Scarlett for E3 next year, just before they launch their new console. Otherwise, Sony would be the only one revealing any major surprises/announcements just before holiday season next year.
My opinion, is that they really played it safe. There was nothing shown that I wasn't expecting, other than the acquisition of Double Fine. The lack of a Lockhart announcement makes me think that Xbox One X is going to be their entry level 4K console, perhaps even a discless version.
This controller is really impressive. I love the fact that you can adjust the stiffness of the analogue sticks. Cool!
In terms of games, there was nothing unexpected, and it looks like Project Scarlett is the only new Xbox coming next gen. The Xbox One X will more than likely be the new base console for next gen, since it is a 4K console after all and isn't that old. It should also be easy for developers to make games that scale easily between Xbox One X and Xbox Scarlett.
As far as games go, it's going to take another year before their investments in studios starts to pay off, whi...
Or perhaps Lockhart is going to be the Xbox One X, rebranded and/or re-release with a new form factor. It's still a great console that is great for 4K gaming on the low end, and it isn't that old, so it would make sense for the X to be the new baseline option for next gen.
It's because Star Wars has completely been oversaturated in the video game and movie markets. People are bored of Star Wars, so there isn't going to be anything that developers can do to excite people about the franchise, like they were once able to.
I loved that response!
