I think this worked for Half Minute Hero well enough, but I don't think this retro style is something people should be trying to recreate all the time.

I was dead set on buying after playing the demo, but I think I'm gonna be cheap and wait for a sale. Someday though, I'll have it!
This just seems so far-fetched to me. And I still don't think broadband is widespread enough for this to be a viable competitor to console gaming. My podunk area has Comcast and that's it.

The Noir sections looked straight pulled from Arkham Asylum, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as that game did stealth right.
I'm a little concerned about the level designs though. Those looked like tutorials, sure, but...they also looked janky. Think I'll wait for some reviews to roll in first.
I'm also not sure the logic of combining cel-shaded action with cinematic cut scenes. The cut scenes look damn good, I'll admit that.

For me, it's the quirkiness of another culture. Japan has been majorly influenced by the US for sure, but they managed to retain something that we never seem to have captured in the US, and in turn with gaming. It's almost indefinable, but in a way sometimes I feel like they just appreciate life more than we do, and their games often portray that in subtle ways.
