If we are talking between Nintendo and Sony its because Nintendo lost strong third party support a long time ago. No one really rushes to put their third party games on a Nintendo platform. Nintendo's first party games are what usually take the stage while everything else is the back up.

Also I find it funny how people are in disbelief that R3 got high scores despite a few minor glitches after games like RDR, Fallout 3 and MW2 got away scott free with high scores. I'm not sure at what point it started to matter. Did anyone really care that the PS2 and PS1 beat out the N64, Dreamcast, Xbox and Gamecube in numbers? Did that fact help you in anyway? Whatever. I've heard it before. Whenever a game gets low scores everyone is never playing it properly or doing it right or the reviewers are all against the game.
