@Christopher Rare anticipated it would take the community 2-3 weeks to get the first pirate legend, and they expected that player to become something of a celebrity. I expected a bit of a song and dance when it happened and if there has been then it passed me by, but that's certainly possible.
If there are already loads of legends I guess that is a further indication that Rare over-estimated the content they had included.
Legendary voyages aren't necessarily "end game" or "a grind to get to". The idea is that anyone can go on legendary voyages with a player that has got there, so you could potentially do them the first time you ever play the game. That's not an horrific grind.
I dare say in 3-4 weeks these will be quite common. I get the haste in releasing reviews, and I get the criticisms. I am not pinning much hope on pirate legends being the saviour of the gam...
Ignoring UCForce (because his post is totally mental), at the moment death in the game is way too trivial. Sometimes I choose to get eaten by a shark because it is the quickest way to get back to my ship. That's silly.
The gold penalty makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that something so simple isn't ready for launch.
How my comment has 16 disagrees I don't know. Super casuals that don't want dying to be at all punishing? Stick t...
@letsago no not at all, but the pirate legend stuff is in the game now.
If it takes too much grind to get there then score it down, but it's weird the reviews are out before anyone in the world has done what Rare say are the best voyages, and none of them even make honest note of the fact they haven't seen that stuff
I'd definitely "defend" the decision to have a penalty for dying. The game will be better for it.
What sucks here is that such a rudimentary mechanic wasn't ready for day 1.
Reviewers seem pretty set on the negative. It's interesting that reviews are hating on the depth content even before a single player in the world has access to the legend voyages though.
I show that link as a direct contradiction to the notion that it "has no target audience". It has a pretty big target audience.
Seen any Sea of Thieves trailers lately? Then you're probably part of the target audience too.
So... You are also disagreeing with the article headline? It does have a target audience (of hungry dogs)?
I'm not bragging lol. I didn't even say the game is good. It just seems apparent that it does have a pretty big "target audience".
Whether it hits them or not it another matter.
Meanwhile in reality...

@Ziv honest advice, play it with strangers. I'm usually really anti-social online and only play with friends I know IRL, but Sea of Thieves does a great job of breaking down barriers, and the social elements and emergent gameplay really are the core of the game.
Fetch quests on your lonesome get boring pretty fast.
@UCForce you mean you are concern trolling? No waaaay that's really surprising to hear. You're more disappointing than anything i...
Ewwwww
Was the emotion rage? Or Fury?
Kratos has always expressed those emotions best.
Wow Jukins. I feel like I've just read a deleted scene from the start of Shrek.
They made this one for the other half of the World, that can play it. No small amount of people.
Maybe if you ask nicely they will donate a brand new football to your village.
It feels personal to UCForce because he looks a lot like Kratos. Throws enchanted axes a lot like him too.
You should maybe probably not risk upsetting him.
Isn't it 1080p on the Pro? That'd make it 4x the resolution. Or "up to 4x", because I think it uses dynamic res on the X.
Game looks OK at the current resolution. Imo if they have any GPU headroom they should put it into improving the shadow quality rather than the res.
