the story didn't really need to go to 2/3s of the planets, most of the material was simply to extend the duration of the game with very minimal story progress at the end of each place. Could have veeery easily taken out a planet and replaced it with sth else and none is the wiser. Whether it was time, money, higher ups, Disney agreement or whatever, it was certainly something else and not "story restrictions".
agreed, twinfinite is another terrible excuse of a website that I avoid cause of this kind of practices.
Some of the side quests are a bit different but most of them are deliveries, yes. And randomly generated. And because of that, they are usually for areas you have already explored so there is a good amount of backtracking.
In general, the game has little action (especially the 1st half has almost none) and its combat system is something quite simple and basic. The bulk of its gameplay is traversal through the map, to open new routes, make deliveries and build up connections...
No mention to "World of Illusion"? probably one of the best children's platform games of the 16bit era, with 2 very different paths depending on the main character you chose and a completely different 3rd path if you played co-op.
I think there simply isn't enough audience for them. It was always a beloved but a niche genre but in the past, the cost of producing a game was much lower compared to today, so the number of sales were sufficient. Today though, 200-300k sales are not enough for AAA games so we see them less often.
In the end, I'd blame the gamers. Prey, Dishonored 2 and Hitman S. 1-2 are the epitomy of stealth gaming in this generation and they all sold relatively low numbers given their nam...
Having been in E3 before, this is an old trick. Show a "private" viewing to a game, which would "force" the press to write a ton of previews as it would be the only way to give information to their public on a very hot topic, and then, after 2-3-4-5 weeks, release this video to the public.
Even CDP did exactly the same thing last year.
Very annoying tactic for the press because it forces you to wait in many hour long queues to see and then write...
I loved the story of Gears 3. While 1 was something very basic and 2 was a try towards something super epic in B-movie style, 3 became very personal and sad. Usually the end of trilogies tries to become even more bombastic, which many times leaves little to the story. But in this case, having the vibe that "we have lost, very few are alive, this is a last chance/hail mary" with only the last team standing, created some great setpieces full of atmosphere.
4 was lac...
it was never enough, especially with the disgusting practices of 99% of the developers, of charging full / almost full price for a title that had almost no upgrades past a cheap HD upscale. But to be fair, we gamers are to blame too. No matter how great a game was, we mustn't just accept paying full price for an old title. I'm reading that the 2d super mario port from the Wii U, 6y later, is at no1 position of sales in uk. At a full price!
As long as we accept things like th...
The male actor is of Greek decent but really lived in Canada so he doesn't really have a Greek accent.
The female actor grew up in Greece and you can instantly tell that her accent gets that characteristic flair, tones and playful sarcasm that you see in the Greek language.
I believe that is why most people agree that she has better voice acting, it is because it gets colored by culture while the male one feels more of a generic western bit which feels out of character ...
Not every games needs a single player campaign. And not every game needs a multiplayer mode.
BUT this one always had SP, it is an integral part of the series and a guilty pleasure for many many people.
True, multiplayer was always its main focus but many of us remember many epic SP moments in the series.
So the choice not to include it now, to me it looks more of a cash grab and less for the benefit of the players.
And as such, I will vote with my...
yep me too, easily in the top 10 of the previous generation.
its writing and atmosphere is phenomenal and sparked long long discussions for weeks and months for me and my friends.
wonderful game, just wonderful.
In the day and age, they need them more than ever. In the time of magazines, you had paid a good sum of money so you were going to read everything. At that time, a grade wasnt very useful. Today, 99.9% of the gaming reviews are free and thus most people barely read them, they just check and compare scores. A small percentage will read the big games or the games that really interest them but in general most people spend less than 1min in a review page (this from my 10years in a gaming website)...
yes, a thousand times yes!
same treatment as Starcraft and AoE2 would be amazing!
I dont mind at all. on the other hand, i was always annoyed when there was only dubbing in a game and not an option for the original speech with subs. In general, I am a believer that the original version is the true version. If you can read Homer, Shakespeare, Kafka in the original rather than the translation (which looses quite a lot of the nuances), why not do it? With games and movies, its the same or more because half of the character is the voice actor. Try going to Germany/Italy/Spain ...
not just good. very good ;)
but you have to like classic point n click adventures with semi-hard puzzles, it is not the walk in the park of modern games.
from a certain perspective, I can't blame them. In the 360 generation the first years they did a really goo job trying to access the Japanese market. great exclusive games from the best and most beloved directors (blue dragon, lost odyssey, tales of vesperia), broke the exclusivity of all ps only brands like final fantasy and hand bundles with it, a ton of exclusive indie or smaller games (360 has an incredible amount of exclusive visual novels), a lot of money spent in marketing, demo bo...
i will agree with you on the gothic games and the low level games from bethesda we've been getting lately.
unfortunately, I have been playing Elex for a few days and it had a myriad of problems. i would DEFINITELY suggest to at least wait for serious patching. otherwise, expect the literally first few seconds you see to be full of massive framedrops and pop in.
unfortunately many reviewers get influenced from the hype and over-rank certain games on launch, while when they return in 1-2 years they are more critical (very classic example of similar divine worship was GTA4 which also had some serious flaws that almost noone wrote about them).
further to that, anyone that was writing something critical (even a user), was getting a huuuuuge response from zelda fans that it became just annoying trying to explain that getting stuck for m...
the skip option was added with a patch in the first two weeks of the game.
I have a feeling this doesn't have to do with the virus endagaring people. Seriously, Sony is "protecting" their staff by not sending them to San Francisco?!? If we start scaremongering like this, everyone will stay locked in their houses for 2020. Ok big events and gatherings do increase risks but come on guys, its not in China. If this attitude becomes the norm, then we will close stadiums, public transport, large office buildings, high rise apartment blocks etc. Its more than...
