Last year around this time, every PS3 fans were proclaiming 2008 proudly as the year of PS3. Not so many proclaimations this year, though...
I still believe that Wii is the single greatest cause for concern for XBox and PS brand. Either it will divert enough 3rd party developers into making Wii games (and not support PsX) or it will drive the next gen of PsX into a squarely casual bent.
Xbox and PS are pushing each other into the realm of great gaming and and...
I can't wait until xbox gets Hulu but if I had to choose one, I'd probably choose Netflix...
If PS3 gets Netflix, I'll probably get one just for Netflix integration so I wouldn't have to pay for xbox live.
To all that think BD > DD, I've watched Mission, Spiderman 3, Munsters, Twilight Zone, Alien 1,3 on the Netflix the last two days (lot of it on background). I bet I watched more content than you did on BD.
Just saying, don't knock DD until you've t...
Since Netflix integration, my watch-instantly-queue has grown to 148. My family's been watching shows and movies at least 2 hours a day. My xbox has been used for movie and TV watching more than gaming ;)
Once PS3 has Netflix integration, you guys will also do the same. I just wish they get more DD integration (Hulu, YouTube, etc). Can't speak about HD as my TV's only SD. I hear that many of the shows is/will be in 720P.
Really my only beef for Netflix are 1) na...
Let's all hate the 360 for being created by an American company, because you know, America is evil.
Let's bash MS for any success that they may have, because you know, they're M$.
Let's all try to give more and more money to the Japanese, because you know, they're our masters.
Not sure why everyone's giddy about this potential acquisition. There's very little synergy between "search" and PC/Console gaming.
One thing would be for Google to distribute ads inside games (billboards, side of bus, product placement, etc). By doing so they can reduce or eliminate the cost of subscription for gaming services for us. Considering that Google tends to overwhelm other players in their arena; this does not bode well for other dev teams.
May be your kids will be speaking Japanese or more likely Chinese when they grow up.
Playing "fair" is not so fair when the other guys don't follow your same "noble" rules.
This is what Detroit and the rest of American manufacturing industry has learned over the last 30 years.
To all those up dissing Kotaku for favoring MS/Xbox...
Perhaps they know something you don't know... Some of their bloggers actually reside in Japan and have a lot of innate knowledge of Japanese culture. Though they don't explicitly say it, they know that the main reason why Xbox is not more popular there is due to the Japanese's bias against non-Japanese companies.
Even the most ardent Japanese sympathizers (and there's *&*^ load of them here) can't deny ...
I can think of at least two scenarios where 360 sells more ultimately
1) get others to sell: meaning have a Samsung or Panasonic or Toshiba branded Blueray capable 360. Very possible scenario with the new chipset/die reduction efforts. By making it totally componentized, you might see all-in-one receivers that can play 360 games in future. Simply flooding the market will allow for an easy win.
2) drastic price reductions: MS has been very slow in dropping pr...
I see a lot of c*ck-fighting going on between PS3 and 360 boys...
To the 360ers, Xbox is safe, there is no danger that 3rd party is suddenly going to stop support for Xbox so relax and enjoy the games.
To the PS3ers, PS3 is safe, there is no danger that 3rd party is suddenly going to stop support for Sony so relax and enjoy the games.
The real enemy is the Wii (at least for the readers in this forum). Even though the 3rd party will not stop supp...
1 for PS3, 2 for 360 and 3 for Wii.
6 for mix consoles, of those 3 for 360+PS3
Seems like wind is blowing towards multi-platform release. Given this, it seems like the console makers are doing a lot more to distinguish themselves with software and hardware innovation than in previous generation (rather than simply relying on exclusives).
360 with avatar + Live + Netflix
PS3 with PSTV + rumble + Bluray + price decreases
Wii with motio...
Please, Please, Please...
An realistic golf simulation with HD graphics (1080 at 60fps) and 5.1 Audio (nature sounds like ocean, wind, birds, audience, etc) using the two handed waggle controller with true force feedback + wack noise from the controller. Or how about attach a real weighted golf club and perhaps even string attached weighted balls?
Simulate slice, hook, fade, push etc etc with the waggle. None of the idiotic strength meters, please. I can't s...
VHS (1976) n/a

Not sure how Digital Download will be replaced... Perhaps that's why the 1TB.
Publicization of these types of incidents usually result in a number of copycat attempts. If these acts are to be consumed in a public manner, more focus should be paid by the media on the utter pain of the parents and other family members that they have thoughtlessly left behind.
The acts themselves should be treated with utter contempt and the perpetrators should be portrayed not as victims but as cruel criminals.
I would like these types of events not to be ...
What's the use of wasting time on hating a soulless machine? Instead spread out your hate on other fanboys. I'm sure they'll reciprocate.
This applies also to Corporations as well like M$ or $ony. Instead, target your animosity against Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer or Sony's head or something. This way, at least in your head, you'll have achieved the same level of accomplishment as those guys.
Remember boys, hate only those that can hate you back, else it's jus...
Don't know why this is considered "Draconian." Most non-game based commercial software only allows you to install on one computer. With this one, you can install on three computers.
I think these guys deserve the money. Personally, I would have priced these games much lower $25 or so as to make it an impulse buy. With the games at $40 - $50, you may be making more money per unit but higher likelihood of piracy and lower likelihood of building a larger install/fan...
Would imagine that they want to either wait for the holiday season (perhaps a 250GB HD with DLC preloaded), or wait until a massive Sony announcement is ready (maybe Home release?), until MS releases the DLC.
Probably not as much hype as it is now but the DLC will have a lot of media coverage for sure.
Maybe shipping with the new wagglestick?
WRT comments of the type "Murder is evil while sex acts are natural so showing sex should be OK"...
No one's saying that sex is "unnatural." However, which can be more damaging: showing simulated sex or showing simulated murder to 10year olds? Most non-"Special" kids know that sex exists and murder exists and that most likely they'll be doing one quite often and another almost never. The key is that these preteens are not prepared for sex while ...
or ~$4 month or the cost of a flavored latte per month.
or ~14 cents per day.
Wow. I feel sorry for the guy. We should set up a tip jar for the guy.
For Microsoft and for Sony. That's the only reason for all the hate from both sides. Those of you who're not being paid by MS or Sony, just ignore those "idiots."
They're just like lawyers, they can generate more demand for their parasitic services by their own doing.
Really, all this talk about how the PS3 architecture is allowing for games like this to be made... This type of talk is inane.
PS3 has painted itself into a corner with its unique architecture that deviates significantly from other all other architectures out there--PC, XBox, and Wii.
All future version of PSs now will have to deal with the same limitations of "cell" if it wants to provide for any type of backwards compatibility.
