The past might make the main character interesting but it adds nothing to the lore of this game. There is simply no connection. Oh, I know they tried with that one scene, but, then the rest of the games forget he's a god killer and have you falling to level gating mobs.
Maybe it could have been the story of boy/girl (siblings, so as to keep the double team gameplay idea) and them gaining these powers and finding who their father was. This would have made much more sense...
But....ugh,why?
They should have gone with a new God of War character. A new character that's gaining his powers as the go. The reality is that Kratos sticks out like a sore thumb. I know, none of you will agree but it is what it is. Kratos being the main character pretty much undermines all of it. Yeah he can fight GODS!!!! But watch out for that level 5 Witch, she'll whoop you ass in seconds.

My point exactly. From the sounds of it you didn't seem to be buying many game prior to gamepass, thus no huge backlog. But now that you have an easy way to play and move on, you have even less of a reason to buy new games.
All gamepass is doing is making people even more complacent about the games they are playing without the need to buy it. We already know that most people don't finish most of their games, thus creating huge backlogs. So why would a non hardcore gamers and, indeed, some hardcore gamers, bother buying games that land on gamepass? This is just allowing them to get their fill and then move on to the next one.
Sure, there will be outliers, but nothing more.
The pixel graphics looked so much better and moody than the cheap Flash style graphics here. Too bad they went this direction instead of refining the original look.
