Does it really matter? So in the next few years I blow what, $3,000 on my dying HD-DVD set... so what, In about 10 years, the $20,000 you and I probably will spend on blu-ray will cease to exist also. The way I see it, embrace both and you won't be left out. So it costs a little extra for what... 1 player, I paid $99 for 1 player to be able to watch HD-DVD material. I consider that a steal. So what if in the next one, two, or three years HD-DVD is gone. Big deal really, I'm not the one ...
Ok, so not like this one. All I can say is "CAN THIS TECHNOLOGY EVOLVE ANY FASTER". Only reason why I wouldn't buy one right now is I wouldn't know how to use a 11 inch screen. Really, nice but too small. I'll shell out 10k for a 60"! WOOT.
I'm sure we all can appreciate this war by driving the players costs down so fast. Look at how long DVD players stay in the $1,000 range. I really like my $99 dollar hd-dvd player and my HD-DVD collection that is also next to my Blu-Ray collection.
Edit:
Wow... hardcore blu-ray and hd-dvd fans. Guess we who love all get hate in return... :D oh well.
there's still a market for them. I personally am happy with my 8800GTX. Sure it cost a lot when I got it but it plays crysis just fine. I really don't need crysis to play at 1600x1200 at 100+ frames per second on max settings therefore, I don't need a 9800GX2 in sli, so does very few people. It's nice to know there there "IS" hardware out there should you feel the urge to play games at the absolute max. I am a console gamer for good reason and a pc gamer for good reason. Both ...
Wow, the Wii sure is a godsend isn't it! Well, I'm glad something like a games console can do so much for people.
After that, I sold my Wii with all games and accessories for $300 with original box. Couldn't stand it anymore, no good games what so ever. Every game for the Wii is crap.
Sure not many have HD TV's but if your console can't or does not have any 1080p games then don't advertise it as so. I remember that's all that sony and microsoft spew out of their crap filled mouths. Now, there is not "ONE" game running in true 1080p. As of right now, I don't think they can even get pac-man from back in the day to run 1080p on these consoles. Either that or developers know they don't need to spend the extra time to wow the majority of the gamming community beca...
I see the 2gig limitation to be the biggest downfall but people disagree with me too. It's bad enough that it only gets Divx support then it's got to be handicapped. 2gigs? You can't even watch a full lengh 2 hour movie in 480p. Sometimes, it seems people have never heard of computers and the limitless boundries they have, atleast those who disagree anyway. Would you rather have a divx video file playing at full 1080p? Heck yeah, this is completely impossible with the PS3. Braveheart is...
You are right, even with the divx capability, PS3 and 360 is still very limited in its media department and I'm sure for legal reasons but I gave up trying to get my PS3 and 360 to be the Media Center MS and Sony wants it to be. When it comes to the ability to play media, PS3 and 360 can not compare to my PC through HDMI to my HDTV. I would really like it if there's a custom firmware to make my 360 or PS3 play any type of Media but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Atleast Sony is trying, of course it'll end up being futile but tries either way so I give them credit.
That's why I said what I said. Fast Downloads + usenet + HTCP + 60+ inches of HDTV = PURE HD BLISS. Those who say it's against the law... well I got news for you people. Mr. Bush, our own president is a frigg'n election stealing, murdering, money steal'n, crook. Same goes for all his cronies so why the heck do I care, I'm just downloading a few movies here and there. Can't be anywhere near as bad as what he does. If he don't uphold the law and he's president... I wonder why the heck the...
Console bots always brag about how awesome their halo 3 looks or COD4, etc, etc, lets see how they play at 1600x1200 with max settings on any of those games. I'd be surprised if it even gets more then 10 fps. Consoles claim 720p/1080p for what a movie? What does a game console do again? I'd expect Halo 3 to be ATLEAST 1080i and COD4 for the PS3 to be 1080p. If it was, everyone knows especially the developers that it just won't be playable. I really dislike console bots who plays their g...
No they won't. 1 terabye harddrives will.
Wii is gay? Who would have known??
Sorry, I still think the Wii is retarted.
I'd buy one and use it as a frisbee... damn, not even a good frisbee.
You can't do much cheaper then brand names, spend a little more to the same amount and you'll have a PC with better components with much more power. I don't see any of those brand name machines running a Q6600 @ 4.0 Ghz with a FSB of 2000mhz now do you? Seriously, you spend a lot of money but I do EVERYTHING with my PC, PS3 and 360? POWER? CELL POWER? Screw that, if it can't even stream a lame 10gig 1080p video file, I say it's crap in the media department, media center my hairy @SS, same...
PS3 and 360 streaming "TRYING" to be a media center. What a load of BS. I found a easy solution. Bought a G6600 Geforce graphics card and slapped it into my main PC, 25' dvi-hdmi cable and hooked that up to my 60" HDTV, run a coax cable from sound card to reciever, total of $150 dollars worth of equipment and I can watch 1080p mkv, avi, ogg, you name it... files with no problems what-so-ever. My 60" tv is now my 3rd monitor running @ 1080p resolution, what beauty that ...
They just need to frigg'n release "SOMETHING", I'm bored shatless here. COME ON!!!!
If not, still doesn't compare to my $200 HTPC. Wait... doesn't even come anywhere near close to my $200 HTPC... for streaming media that is.
Come on, I'd pay any dollar amount to see my kids that excited. Seriously. Sure, I suppose it could RRoD... so what.
