I've owned all the GT series and I just recently tried the forza demo for the 360. If damge makes Forza the winner, then I'd go with Colin McRae Dirt. Forza's damage may be top notch... but the purpose of the game is to come out undamaged after races. If you can't keep clear of other cars or gaurd rails then you don't have the skill and ability to play these kinds of racing sims. But it all depends on the one building it. My custom water cooling kit for my pc alone cost more then a my 360 and the steering wheel (for Forza ofcourse woot!!). But that's not the point. I just love high powered gear and if someone is willing to spend... upwards of 5k for a pc, so what? In my eyes, they have every right to brag about it. Damn well deserves it. For one, I'd definately get a set of these bad boys. Only thing is, then my computer will chew more power then my central air...
I didn't read through all the comments but I'm a pretty big PC guy and 2 of my 8800 GTX's watercooled edition is... cough... cough... more then any console out right now and then some (Actually, more so then all three latest gen consoles combined which is frigg'n insane). with your car scenario, you can atleast do a trade in, with the 360, you're just SOL. A better way to put it, if you buy a $600 dollar 8800GTX for your PC... perhaps even two, and next year, a 8888gtx or something comes along, then you are in the same boat. Super Metroid was one of my all time favorite games... not that metroid prime junk. WTF were they thinking? There's already like a bazillion FPS's out there, who wants to play another named under metroid? Some games are just ment to be 2D.
No matter what they do, it's bound to be cracked... I don't care what the engineers say, if the original can be played on a legit player regardless of how much protection it's got, it's going to be cracked because somewhere in that player is the key to unlocking the content. If the key is there, it only takes time to find it. Too bad it's usually much, much sooner then later.
The part that sucks the most though, eventually, to fight piracy, everything is going to be streame...

However, unless microsoft somehow manages to use both the CPU and the GPU being it's from the X1800 line of GPU's for folding(for those not aware folding @ home has a client for doing WU's on the GPU instead of the CPU but requires ATI graphics GPUS), it's wasting it's time. The Cell is just better suited for that type of processing.
