This might be the best game engine yet
First traditional JRPG (NOT USING KIDDIE CHARACTERS)( oh yeah enchanted arm not as good)of this generation. FFXIII maybe be better in the long run. The long run is much later though and I have this precious gem now so, wahoo I am enjoying myself.

Put up for the failure rate of the PS2? Come on you guys can't have it both ways. Sony had to be sued in England to fix PS2 disk read errors. But that doesn't matter because it was last gen. At least MS stepped and took responsibility.
they say that 16% is for the older boards. It is the older boards that have that failure rate.
But what makes them think consumers want to re-buy old movies in Blu-Ray. I mean new one yeah that is great but who wants to see old special effects in 1080p. So I can actually see the wires on superman? I own about 400 - 500 DVDs . It would just cost too much to replace them.
This is all about money. In the end these rich guys on both sides only want to maintain or grow their already enormous sums of money. They will make the deal and in the end it won't effect anything unless they can monetize their ads like google

Even with all their money that is not a good way to stay in business. It was either switch to the 360 or get out of the video game business. Funding the sink hole that was the xbox for more years was not an option. Either way the xbox was going to be abandoned.
Are places to live and food. Everything else is expendable. If you struggling for food you sure as heck don't care about a game system. It didn't really look at the financial aspect of selling a new console. This console cycle is still very young. It would would mess up developers and MS to have another console released so soon. Sony and the Blu-Ray consortium rushed Blu-Ray out and Customers have to pay the price. Not only are people that brought HD-DVD screwed over because the format is going to die, but the everyone that brought a Blu-Ray player that is not a PS3 are screwed as well. What a way to treat the people that keep these guys in business. Corporations really don't demonstrate any ethical behavior these days.
GTA IV was delayed because of the PS3. Only thing that saved Sony was that contract that both versions must be released simultaneously. PS3 is just plain harder to develop for. Of course the graphics will look gorgeous with the spe's pushing data to the RSX. Makes it easier for that gpu if it doesn't have to process all the graphics data.

The 360 sold less in its second year because there are fewer people willing to buy it at the $379 price point. Every time there a skew is discontinued sales of the PS3 rise. How can it be stated that these people brought the PS3 for Blu-Ray and not for the upcoming games? Where these people on amazon interviewed and asked why they brought a PS3? Too many assumptions.
