This actually *is* the new Contra game in everything but name. Waiting for another Contra game...well, don't hold your breath.
"Easier" is subjective.
Arcade Mode for this game is certainly Contra Hard.
Rising Mode, while certainly less brutal than Arcade Mode, is not without its own set of challenges. The upgrades do make it easier, but the platforming and bullet dodging as well as the enormous bosses with hard-to-read patterns make for a difficult time regardless of mode.
If you wanna grab it for 360, we could tag-team it on Rising or Arcade Mode. Playing with someone else who is competent definitely makes the game easier.
But yes, it definitely is a game to test the nerves and endurance.
