I can't really think of what else they could do. The series is brilliant, but ultimately hamstrung by its subject matter's place in time, in that "Post-Cold War", "Techno Thriller" sense.
With the first three games it was still semi-believable for a spy to need to sneak right into the main server room of the enemy complex in order to "get the data", vs today's Social Media Age where everything's just wireless & with drones....
